if you save as bmp...it should save your work as  is it originally looks. and png will usually save you files perfectly unless you'd changes somes of you PNG default setting  PNG files are usually much more smaller than BMP.  and JPEG will lost resourse unless you change setting of jpeg saving porporties to 100%?
