When I started this digital painting I had no idea what to draw I just kept adding shapes and values and eventually came up with a Mermaid and then I added everything else. The story of this picture is a Mermaid Princess looking for her crown at the bottom of Atlantis.

The main reason I use greyscale is because I am so used to pencil sketching and I find drawing in black grey and white easier to blend the values together. In Photoshop I find working in greyscale first easier than starting off a digital painting in colour I use greyscale to get the values/tones but I cant really get my pictures to look good using the colour layer to add different colours. I have also tried overlay layers but I cant really get the colours to blend in with ...

Thanks mate I coloured the apple by memory (I dont have a great memory hence the lack of highlights on the apple) I will use some reference if I ever got back to finalising things on the painting.
