I dig it!  My only real pointer is to stay as far away from gray and black as possible.  Try experimenting more with color, like using a more blue-black on the background and a dark dark orange-ish on Alma, that may really pop her out and yet keep her in the shadows.  Keep it up!!

Thanks for all the input, everyone!  I moved the wings up- this was a lost battle, my friend pointed it out to me before but I argued that I like wings to connect to the lower back but if it looks off then it should be changed.  Now I like it better because you can see her hip outline better too!  I know the wings don't twist ...

Very nice!  It's definitely very recognizable (my bf spotted the image when he walked in to the room and instantly said "Avril Lavigne!!").  The only thing is I think you need to further highlight/add shadow to her nose, it seems to really melt in to her cheekbones :D Don't be afraid to shade it XD   Great ...
