• Re: Are Simon Bisley/ Frank Frezetta styled art works possible digitally ?

Good point there, but as was said, "Painter tends to look more like the real medium". Doesn't mean to say that is does. If someone - anyone - really wanted to get the exact same look and feel (quite literally), they shouldn't even contemplate the digital medium. However, since the question was posed whether or not it's ...

What exactly is it you need concerning "training materials"? - Anatomy classes, colour theory, painting techniques, tips and tricks on how to achieve textures...? If you let us know, someone may be able to point you in the right direction. :)

  • Painting in Photoshop: The Basics

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I figured since it's all Photoshop, I could drop this in here. :) This is a tutorial I wrote a while back (several years in fact), yet it still seems to be quite helpful for quite a few people on other websites. And just the other day I stumbled across a forum post by someone in ...

  • Re: Skin blending techniques

I just checked out your gallery, and I think I might have some pointers. :) First of all, maybe try and use more than just one colour and its dark and light values. To achieve the photo realistic look, you may want to check out some good quality photo references (or simply look in the mirror!), just to try and see how many and what colours there ...

  • Re: help painting skys

The best thing to do there is to look at lots of photos of skies and cloud formations, especially if you are going for realism. I usually start with a one-colour sky. I cannot tell you which colour that would be, as it really depends on the time-of day, and how many or little clouds you would like to paint. Using a very soft-edged brush I then ...

  • Re: New Members Introduce Yourselves!

Just wanted to say hello, really. - I'm not that new to the site (and forum), but never registered until yesterday. =] I'm Nykolai, I've been painting digitally for about 5 years, and... err, yeah. I don't really know what else to say, I'm not really good at this sort of thing. Anyway, happy to be here. Have a nice day! ...
