• Re: Issue 18

My internet time is vastly reduced these days, but guys, I had to come and congratulate you on a FAB issue. One of the best to date. The covers for once had something other than scantily clad women, hurrah! I got Jason Chan's cover, thank the lord, since it had a rather scrumptious mad scientist and some hot redheads on! *grin* I love all the ...

  • Re: Visionspring's Sketchbook - slight nudity

Love the nude poses, those are wonderful. Your colours in the finished pieces are lovely, you really choose them well. Some of your facial structure comes across little strange, though that could just be your style.. Nice work!

  • Re: presentation and skecthes

Great facial expressions in that first one, I really like the one on the lower left! I'd say maybe try a few more full body shots, see if you can get the body language to match the face! But other than that, nice work.

  • Re: life drawings (graphite)

The old man's face is definitely my favourite, the quick 2 min sketch. Statues are handy for anatomy practice, but real humans have a lot more character, and it's that you've captured in that quickie sketch. I'd say try doing a bit more of both... the latter ones are nice but they do feel a bit more rushed ...

  • Re: Mincher's Game Art Sketchbook.

Good to see you're thinking about the blocks beneath the clothing, but I think there's s til a bit of wrk anatomically needs doing. The second one is looking pretty good I'd say just have a look at the muscular make up of the arms and legs. The first one's proportions are off a little, his legs seem to be very short. ...

That last piece is great, a challenging pose, and you've pulled it off pretty well!

  • Re: Zephyri's weird and wonderful sketchbook

Nickilus: Thanks, and the sketches vary. Some, like the prince over the little girl, and the medic on the battlefield have been through three or four stages from thumbs and roughs to the finished tweaked sketches, so they take much longer than say the Italian looking mob boss holding the cigarette, who took about an hour. Finished colour works ...

  • Re: Malla's Sketchydoodles

Hey Malla, some interesting work you've got here. I like the Saw film ones, especially as I'm a Tobin Bell (jigsaw) fan myself, though the one of Amanda (Shawnee... I forget her last name)... is really quite expressive with the way you've laid down the strokes, really like the style.

  • Re: Mincher's Game Art Sketchbook.

Hi Mincher, if you're thinking of working in the games industry, especially as a concept artist, one of the best things you can do right now is study anatomy, as you've got the very basics down there, but you'll need a lot more to really make those unique pieces of art that will snag the eye of the employers! And the same would ...
