About Rebecca Jay Cullum-Brown
"I was born in Southampton, England in 1984 and spent my youth in Brisbane, Australia, in a nurturing artistic environment. After the death of my mother in 1998 the family suffered many hardships during which the escapist nature of art became my greatest companion. Expression through drawing and acrylic painting had become a part of my identity and in 2004 I completed a diploma of Visual Art. It was only when I found an interest in commercial graphic design that I discovered digital painting or considered my computer as a means of artistic expression. Now living on Australia's Gold Coast, I continue practicing both digital and traditional art.
Art in digital form requires the same basic understanding of the principles of design and elements of art as any traditional media. Both require the skill and original mindset to create and communicate ideas. Graphic applications are simply another way for artists to express themselves. Art has always been a part of my life and it always will be, in one form or another."
