MIckey's Mutilation

My mom contacted me awhile back looking for a new desktop image but with a twist. She wanted to play a practical joke on her boss who happens to be a huge Mickey Mouse fan. Needless to say, she asked me to use my imagination and draw a gruesome looking Mickey. So I put my thinking cap on, found some reference images and threw together a quick sketch for moms to see. She loved it.

At first I was just going to throw some blood on the sketch and make that the final image but after playing around with some colors I decided to finish it. After I sent mom the finished file she went and put it on her bosses computer which was then followed up by a nice email to me from her boss saying “Thanks, but could I get something with a little less blood!”

So, no harm done. Except to Mickey that is. - S

Awhile back my boy JOel, a.k.a. “MechaHateChimp“, was telling me how pissed off he was and while he was spewing out all of his verbal obscenities (that were cracking me up) I started to sketch. He was so mad that all I could see in my head was this image of an irate chimp going off. So, I started to put pen to paper and by the end of the conversation this is what was left on the page. So, here’s to “J”, the meanest lil’ primate I know! Cheers Bro! - S

The initial sketch took about 45 min and the quick & rough coloring job took another 45 min. - S

Here’s a last minute illustration I did for Halloween. My thought behind this was to make him look as though he’s waiting in the lurch ready to pounce on the next unsuspecting victim. The hardest part about this piece was the corn. It was a pain, even with very little detail. Hope ya like - S

Here is an illustration that I did in tribute to the movie "300". Wanting to keep with the movies grungy visual effects I incorporated quite a few splatter patterns. This helped set the mood of... BLOODY CARNAGE! A reference image was used for the initial rough sketch but, after the stance was developed I tried to capture the look of King Leonidas of "Sparta" from memory. I really enjoyed creating this piece. I wanted to keep the character as human looking as possible with the basic "Devil" features. Red skin, horns, tail, etc... The final version came out at 5023 x 6000 px. I hope you enjoy it - S

For some reason lately I've been putting wings on my subjects. I believe it gives them and kind of innocence. I wanted to mix vibrant colors and gritty textures in with the feel of smooth skin and silky hair.

Anyway, this piece was done for my brother, who I want to know... there is an angel on his shoulder watching over him. Here ya go, B!
