15 minute speedpaint. While doing this image all I wanted to do is have a speech bubble coming from the dog's mouth saying "Hey Butthead". And I don't know why ... I just imagined it having this deep scruffy voice ...

Ice Robot

This is my entry into Expose 6, originally this was designed as cold submission for a cover for an upcoming anthology. After taking hundreds of digital pictures from rocks, concrete, car parts, industrial machinery, my lawn mower ... they were then used as textures upon textures for this image. I had a fantastic time doing this image, originally the robot was set in a western setting but I wasn't happy with the overal atmospheric tone of the image. It wasn't until I placed it into a cold icy environment that I felt that the image was complete!

I've recently started work on my upcoming self-published book "Before The Ashes: Victims" (title maybe re-named at a later point), which will contain some of the horror community; photomanipulated into zombies. The book will come out some time in mid '08 ..
featuring some of todays upcoming authors, publishers and artists.

Its also an opportunity to do a coffee table style art book which is dedicated to horror, and the art of photo-manipulation.

The first person to be manipulated is Michael Hultquist who is an author in Graveside Tales' "Fried! Fast Food, Slow Deaths".

A photomanipulation that I did of myself (using the tried and truely horrible photo taken by yourself), using scanned textures of melted eye dropper rubber (long story ... just remember kids, don't sterlise baby's eye droppers!). Also contains source material from a giant squid that I photographed over a year ago!

A mock-up for a book cover for a book that I can not announce quite yet ... I have always wanted to do a design of a retro style robot fighting against something else total out of place. In this case ... a band of cowboys. Oh and I got to do death ray eye beams (I haven't said that line since I was a kid playing with my toys ... "We'll I got death ray eye beams ... so there!"

Flight Of The Dead

Here's a taste of some concept work for a little comic project that I am developing called "Flight Of The Dead".

Which is about a young spitfire pilot who faces his ultimate foe, Death himself. This takes place in the blackened skys in 1940, later to be known as "The Battle Of Britain". Its a deadly aerial dogfight .... could it possible that Death is fighting on the side of the Germans?! Or is the spitfire pilot losing his mind?

This is a line work test as I go through the motions if it would fit the comic concept.

Done in Painter ....
