Merry X-mas

This year has been one of the best years I've ever had so far, things have been great in many ways, I've done things I thought I was not able to do, I've challenged myself and grow as a result of many wonderful and personal experiences, that feeling of knowing that now you're way much better than before is great and the feeling that things will grow much more its there, I won't bother you with all the details of what happened during this year but in resume I've meet wonderful people, travelled lovely countries and done things I always wanted and planned to do, what's next nobody knows, but I'm sure it will be great in many ways and with your response and support It will be much more bigger, thanks guys for being here with me this year, merry Christmas and Happy New Year!.

About the artwork: this Christmas themed illustration was done while I was in Venezuela back in January, I remember drawing it in my room and enjoying a lot the pencil work, by that time was pretty late and out of place to post it so I decided to paint the line art with different palette and style mixing and blending new tones, even the drawing has a more manga feel like my current style. hope you like it

P.S the green packs at the bottom left are called Hallacas a traditional Christmas Venezuelan dish (T_T I want one)

This is what I had to do for the weekly Urbe Magazine, this is the best that had happened this year in Venezuela, as you can see in this illustration shows how undeveloped we are, that the best things that happened most are from other countries , ironically this illustration is done by a Venezuelan (me)

Finished!

Finally got the time to finish this one, this one was a good practice using Photoshop for effects and tricks, it took me some time to find the overall colors and general mood, I see this is one as a type of drawing that can be interpreted and colored in multiple ways so I had many option to play with.

I think I've broken a personal record, I painted this one just in 5 hours, I guess I was quite inspired and I knew which colors I was going to use, also I didn't add as much details as I would have liked as this piece had to be ready today, the background was inspired by the Angel Falls in Venezuela.

Drawing commissioned by Urbe Magazine Venezuela, this illustration will be featured in a special edition in November.

I always felt something when I saw this character for the first time, I'm not a big fan of DC comics but this character has a chanting personality that I wanted to portrait, I went trough many correction in the anatomy and I've learn loads of things while painting her.

I usually put some pressure on me to finish things with in a certain amount of time or worry myself thinking the purpose of the drawing, this time I did what I should do more often, draw... simply draw.

Somehow I'm glad now that the first one I did got crewed up by painter, as I could think again about the color and the overall finish for this one, I fixed a lot details from the original line art submitted like 2 months ago that many people colored (which help me to take the plunge to paint it again).

The most difficult things to paint here was the sky and the water (specially as had to think a lot about how to make the proper effects) Hope you like it!

I tried to paint this one using strong strokes and and simple shading but it didn't look good at all, so I finished with my usual style, might try it another time.

Some people commented about Candy Candy the anime , I have to say it's not based on the anime or manga, although, Candy Candy is named in the erotic tale referring to the ponytails of one of the characters which this illustration is based.

WOW!! I finally finish it! I didn't have any problems with painter this time thank God! there's something special about this piece firstly is her first 2008 work and secondly I started painting it in my Wacom Intuos 3 and finish it with my new Wacom 12WX and I felt the difference right away. it's so easy now to add more details and the workflow is very natural. and lastly I LIKE IT!!

Finally it's finished! Another illustration for the Urbe Magazine in Venezuela, same as the previous one this is based on an erotic tale written and given by the magazine. it's about how this girl have her first relationship during the 70's and how she remember what happened. while I tried to do something retro, it ended in a blend of styles and colors that I like, something different from my usual pin-up girls I think...
