I originally painted this faerie in March for a friend of mine. The faerie was by herself on a pink background. I decided that I wanted to finish this piece so I attempted to put her in the forest like the Green Faerie. I spent many hours just staring at the reference, intimidated by the difficulty of depicting the foilage. I created a whole set of new brushes in Photoshop and I did my best. I originally wanted a more realistic look, but instead it has an ethereal quality I didn't intend. I also faked in the shadows on her to incorporate her more in the setting. I think it's more successful overall than the Green Faerie, but next time it will be a lot easier planning a composition in its entirety before hand. I'm a little tired of faeries, but I want to make 6 so I can submit them to greeting card companies (they usually want to see 6-12). I got this great book on licensing...anyone interested should check it out...http://www.amazon.com/Licensing-Art-101-Publishing-Artwork/dp/0940899841/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-2899695-6864741?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1185932599&sr=8-1
