Creature from Codex Monstrorum

Another creature illustration from the Codex Monstrorum, a new RPG rulebook from Ulisses-Spiele. The entire book contains over 50 new monsters for their Myranor campaign world in the Das Schwarz Auge game rules. Some of the creatures had been featured in the game before, but never illustrated and over half of the creatures I was allowed to design myself.

The Creature of the Week contest on conceptart.org for this week is a "Predator Predator." This airborne creature is used as a training exercise for young neophyte Predators. They must face this creature and survive before being allowed off-world to participate in the Predators ritual hunts. Many fail and those that do are generally plucked out of the tree tops and silently carried away to be eaten. Yum. Dreadlocks.
