Stalking the Elusive Quetzal

Stalking the Elusive Quetzal

For the SCBWI LA Conference I made an 8 page (not counting the cover) book dummy staring my character Xcaret the margay and an unsuspecting resplendent quetzal. Currently it’s only an 8 page wordless picture book but I hope to expand the characters into their own full story. If you want to see the internal drawings they are  on my site. http://www.katgirl.net/book_dummy.html

I made two full scale (the books were 8x8 in) one for the portfolio review and one for the portfolio show and 21 mini versions (3x3 in) to hand out to art directors and such. Of those 21 I only have 2 left and it occurs to me that they are perfect size for a BJD so I may expand them a little and sell them at cons for people’s BJD or because mini books are so cute.

Medium: blue lead with mech. pencil on Canson vellum with Painter x & Photoshop CS3

Project: Mini book dummy
Completed: July ‘08
