I made this illustration to experiment with some new techniques of depicting different types of armour (specially the appearance of the metal); I learned a lot from it and it helped me to (continuing) to improve my work.

I meditated upon this image, wondering how history would have changed if these cavalrymen had been equipped with stirrups.

i am especially interested about latter roman empire illustrations and are head of a wargamming club that deals with roman soldiers and i have always had a fascinating love for the classical age history this illustration trully a great illustration of a late roman cavalryman!
