Goh'Cephal

Not that this really has anything to do with Call of Cthulhu, but I guess that I have been influenced from the monsters of that setting. There is just something with tentacle monsters that appeals to me and not in an Asian manga kind of way (please make a note of that )

I was not sure if I was to dress the girl or not, but after a few tests, it simply looks a lot cleaner and better this way.

Painted using Photoshop with a Wacom tablet over a long period of time (painted one or two hour every now and then. Reference from different places within my own collection.

Darkfall conceptual painting

I started this piece quite a while ago at work. It’s simply a conceptual 2D painting that was made for no other purpose to experiment and for use in misc. relation from PR to decoration etc. The picture shows 3 of the totally 6 races of Darkfall, the MMORPG-game I am working on fulltime. The girl is an elf, the guy in the middle is a human, and the short dude is obviously a dwarf. Some of the elements are based on 3D objects made by other members of Aventurine S.A.

All elements are copyrighted Aventurine S.A. and can not be used in any other purpose.

Painted using Photoshop CS2 with a Wacom Intuos tablet, and some elements based on 3D renders of actual in game objects/environments.

I’ve been working on this piece on and off for quite a while because of extra projects, and when I finally got a couple of days in-between things, I decided to wrap this piece up so that I can fully focus on my other projects for the upcoming weeks. I had some other plans for this piece to start off with, but it didn’t work out as I hoped as I would have to move away from the monochromatic look, which I kind of like.

The idea for this one started out more comic than it turned out to be. I had something else planned out for the 2 characters in the scene, but I soon figured out that I had to let the chick and the cat interact to make this piece work. I guess there are not other back story to this than I simply enjoy making pieces like this. I also wanted to experiment a little with volumetric light directed from the top in the scene.

Own model used as reference for the girl.

This painting was more or less a test, so I decided to keep it simple. I like simple composition anyway.
I don’t have a story behind this piece, other than it has got a more modern fantasy theme than normal from me. Perhaps this shows a cheerleader doing her side-job?

After playing a Dungeons & Dragons role playing campaign for quite a while now (…and it looks as if we’re upcoming dragon-riders, yay!), I got all into “dragon-mode”, and wanted to make a pretty standard high fantasy painting. Again, I show that I have a passion for the old fantasy masters, and I simply love painting things like this.

I’ve always been really fond of narrow standing formats, and this painting will hopefully be the first in a series of 2 or 3 with the same appearance and dimensions. I want to make a series that looks nice together, perhaps hanging on a wall.

This painting took me quite some time because of the resolution and the amount of details.

After painting guys for quite a while, I had a bad relapse and had to paint something really, really, cheesy. I painted this on and off during a periode of time when I had a lot of other projects, so I don’t know exactly how much time I’ve spent on this, but a little more than usual. I spent a little more time than usual on this painting. At first I considered giving her a hammer, or a bat, but then it might just seem like a mad nurse and nothing more. By giving her a hairy fantasy sword it suddenly looses all common sense, which I kinda like.

This is a portrait of my girlfriend wearing some kind of golden gautlet. I was practicing using hard edged brushes for the first time on this painting, and it was a valuable experience for me, I have stuck to that techinque since this painting. I like dragons, so sometimes the urge to draw one comes uppon me. At first, I wanted the girl and the dragon to do a graceful dance of some kind, but since thats quite tricky to nail I went for a simplified approach. I guess he is a some kind of silver dragon?

This is inspired from a horror roleplaying session I was part of a while ago; an incident with a girl with tremendous powers in a bookshop. This is a really old piece, but it was an important painting for me as it kind of kickstarted me into making more digital art. I started off making some clouds one evening. The next evening I made agirl. I had no things planned out for this at all, and simply combined the two of them just to try, and added some sparkly stars.
