where the stalactites/mites of the cave the figure is in might be teeth and the walls have a dragon-hide like texture. I don't think the head's too washed out. The concept is excellent and it's always good to start with a strong concept. Initially I thought maybe "soft-shelled" might be an Americanism for "cowardly" and found the picture amusing.
