My entry for the weekly art challenge a few weeks back. The theme was 'Twilight'.

An ancient sentinel, long forgotten by those it once protected, stands guard as the twilight comes.

One of a series of dragons that I've created over the years - a case of me sitting down with the dragon workshop and sketching in Painter in black and white, then going into Photoshop and adding colour with adjustment layers. I'm slightly annoyed by the head, because I've gone and made him look like a platypus. *bangs head against wall*

The Sandslash

This was supposed to be an attempt at a burrowing reptile, but my fondness for Sandslash ended up taking over the image. *scratches head* I took the opportunity to try my hand at more realistic lighting and make it look like someone walked down the tunnel with a torch and came across it.

And I know Sandslash aren't as big as the one here, it was more an error of judgement than anything.

Head Study - Bio

This is my favourite character design to date, sort of a dragon/chupacabra mix (chupacabras are mythical blood suckers from around Mexico, name literally means "goat sucker").

I do have some more sketches of him, but I never did get the coloured version finished.

A birthday present for one of my online friends using his character design for reference - was going to originally be done in pastel, but ended up doing it in Photoshop. I think he nearly ended up falling out of his chair on seeing it.

Done with dodge and burn tools, I had reservations over the wings, and the feathers in general for that matter, next time I'm using an eagle for feather reference.

Neakros - Chaos Inferno

I have to hand it to long college breaks, they give you plenty of time to day-dream and get in the zone without interuptions - a half-hour gap really doesn't cut it.

I was aiming to get as close to "un-dead, malevolent dragon wraith" as possible. Well, I got part way there, but he looks more like Ifrit from Final Fantasy than anything, and I really don't like the spines on the tail. They don't fit in too well if you ask me.

I did enjoy creating it though, my favourite memory being my sister telling me off for going overboard with the dodge and burn tools, it was looking positively photo-realistic.

There's a different colour version of this, because I couldn't decide which looked better.

Before The Dawn

First entirely digitally-created image done as a direct result of reading ImagineFX. I particularly love the landscape, but overall it reminded me to look reference in future before I start painting if I want an easier life.
