A portrait of Lerato, a 15-year-old girl I live in the same house with here in South Africa.
I really just wanted to get back into painting after an almost two
month break, and get used to my new monitor that doesn't seem to want
to callibrate properly - or at least that's how it appears to me. So I
apologise in advance if the colours seem a bit... weird. It's meant to
be deep earthy reds and purples and oranges, but who knows what you
see. My laptop says it's all grey. Eh!
Anyway... I rather enjoyed keeping it loose and relatively unrefined in places. It's growing on me. =]

On my monitor is looks earthy brown, on the reddish-side. But regardless... it's a very nice piece. Lerato is a beautiful girl.
In this picture I like the composition the most. The calm and natural background is a good contrast for her lady-like look. I like that her sleeves/scarf are flowy, symbolising (to me) a sense of freedom, particularly with the wide open landscape which also reminds a city-dweller like myself the freedom of uncluttered horizons.
