Poster colours are a water based medium. They are usually used for kids projects (as they wash out) but many an artist uses them. They can be used thick or watered down into almost water colour quality and can be worked so they leave no brush marks. Also the bonus of them is that there are loads of colours and you can nab them really cheap, but be warned of the lack of quality if you get them too cheap.

Cartridge paper is a high quality heavy weight paper. Usually now you can get it in acid free and 150gsm, 160gsm or the heavier 210gsm. Its what most sketch/artists books (of quality) are made of.

You should try traditional more, I have returned to it and found it terribly therapeutic, though I curse the fact there isn't an erase option!
