    Flauros

Something I started a few weeks ago. Basically I did a basic pencil sketch, printed onto canvas, painted and inked over that, then re-scanned it and colored it using Photoshop. All in all Im pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Sounds like unnessesary much work. Why? Ok picture though. Lacks a bit force in my oppinion, but nice characteres.

    Re: Flauros

Composition is very nice, as well as the color theme.  The shading is a bit inconstant, however.  Some of the characters, such as the main human character, are very nicely rendered, but some of them are a bit flat (the monster, for example).

    Overall, a solid effort.

    Re: Flauros

The main reason I put so much into this was as a creative exercise to see what would work and what wouldnt. I agree the actual creature is the weakest part, and Im considering re-doing the darn thing again to get it right this time.

Why put so much effort into it? Why not? I wanted to push both my style and skills as an illustrator and Digital painter, and I learned quite a bit from this. It isnt perfect, but it does work for what its supposed to do. An experiment in Composition, tone and medium.

    Re: Flauros

Ok, so looking back after a month or two it was clear to see what needed changing, so I worked a bit more on it today. I fixed the demon so it now seems alot more striking, and tried to make it look more indistinct, like the heat from it is distorting it. I also tried to add more of a red light to the image, again coming from the Flauros itself.
