So, Im thinking about what projects I can have running through the year as ongoing things to return to, and I thought it would be a good idea to start a calander since the last one I designed was for 2004. So after a bit of thought I decided to do a few pinups of women based around each month. For example, January's signified by Garnet, Ice, and Janus, god of Doorways (she will be holding a doorframe in her hand), February by amethyst, intelligence and duality etc. Heres the basic artwork I have so far, any opinions on the direction, anything that looks a lil off or needs changing?

Looks like you're having a little trouble on the anatomy. I'd suggest looking for some reference pictures of girls for further work to get the proportions right. For instance the first one looks a bit short and her hips aren't wide enough. I really like the second one, especially the textures in the background, but in that one as well you should look for reference. The hand to the left seems to be a bit off. I really like the way you colour, and i really like your style! :D

Oh yeah, me and anatomy do not get on well. But hopefully I can address it this year. I actually think the February pic is weaker (I did it first) and the textures are way too overboard. I much prefer the subtle ice look of January. Still, thanks for the feedback, at least I have some clear areas to focus on fixing. Thanks for your comment.

Decided to re-draw everything from scratch. Heres how things are looking at the moment. First of all I hunted down a fair amount of reference shots, nudes etc which proved very helpful. At the moment I have sketched up to 6.

This was created using a Cafepress template, but the final calender will be created using Deviant Art. The idea is to include the various star signs that feature in that particular month etc 

 

The final version may be entirely coloured digitally rather than the original paint-overs with Watercolour. We shall see how it go's.

Tried the colour the lineart but I wasnt happy with the skin tone. Me and color have a love hate relationship.

So I decided to stick to black and white lineart, which is the strength of the artwork with a splash of color.
