    Re: your workshop versions

I know I've bumped up an old thread, but this touches on something I was wondering:

How do people here use the workshops?

I've only been buying IFX for 2 months and was wondering what other ppl do. I have so far manly been reading the workshops only. Do others try to recreate the image in the workshop or create their own version of it maybe? Because there are not step by step instructions of painting techniques as far as I have seen, just the order and stages of working.

Anyway, I would be very interested to find out... And would also like to see peoples versions of the workshops, if they do them.

    Thanks,

    Jack

    Re: your workshop versions

I've been out of the Art Institute for years now after going for 3d and then doing mostly 2d painting in traditional media. I've decided to start using the workshops in hopes of getting my skills up to do work in the faster ,cleaner digital format. I have 3 kids and a wife at home, but dont have time for classes, so for me the Workshops are great. There is just an amazing amount of information given through a remarkably talented user base.

Here is my attempt at tackling Alan Lathwell's workshop in the August 08 issue. Although I went for a looser more frazetta feel. I learned so much from the excercise that I am moving onto Marta Dahling's Witch workshop next.

Thanks to all of you for you contributions.
