    Art of Suiter

I'm new to the site. Sort of wary about posting because of all the incredible artists here. But what the hey.. Jumpin in. Blind folded and hog tied. LOL

I so respect everyone and so many of you inspire me and make me want to learn and grow even more. Thanks..

This is 'Cloud City' ... I was working with light and atmosphere with this.

Hi Suiter. This looks great! I really like the clarity and the high contrasts between the different forms.

I think you could chalk this up as a success!

    Re: Art of Suiter

    Welcome to the forums :)

I really like what you are going for here.

A few tips though, the blue space ship is a bit confusing as to what direction its facing. From behind I feel that its facing away from us and going towards the city. But when I look at the front it looks flat and seems to be going towards the right side of the picture,  so clear that up a bit, and the shading on it is very black. You should paint with more values. The furthest part of the ship should be a little lighter than the part closest to us.

Also on the right side of the picture closest to us, there´s something white, another ship? ice? Its really hard to tell. When drawing stuff its good to hint at something and then let our minds fill out the blanks :)

I hope that I didn´t confuse you too much.

Overall you did a nice job :)

Thanks for the feedback and welcomes.

I actually think I screwed it up with the curves setting. Darkened it so you cant really see the tones on the closest side of the ship , BUT, I was thinking the same thing about the  front. Just thought maybe my eyes were playing tricks. I didn't do too well on the canopy. BTW, its heading towards the city. LOL

Its a small pic but the white in the foreground is a platform with a lil dude on it.

I am all about critiques. Helps me look at different things.

Been away for awhile but have some new pics. I really like the concept of speed paintings as to me it gives more life and movement to a piece. Like a bunch of different moments captured all at once, instead of just a single moment.
This is a speedy called Floaters.

I did this speedy yesterday morning and figured I'd add a mood of morning time to it.

I did this one yesterday afternoon and wanted a bit of an early evening feeling. In my mind at least. Another speedy. Red Dust.

    "Seeking Council"

I started out with a plan to have this be a speedy, as in 2-3 hrs, but it took twice that. For me its a speedy in so far as my normal is a couple days. I had a couple of happy accidents which changed the plan. I learned a lot and had a blast doing this. I just upgraded to Photoshop CS6 as well as a new desktop, and I'm really liking both a lot. They help the workflow immensely.

    Comments are always welcome.

@Isis. Thanks. I post small because I've had numerous situations of my art being stolen and put up for sale by others on the internet. NOT here. But in the habit now. I used to post large with a watermark, but people complained about that . LOL

    Re: Art of Suiter

    Nice concepts!

if you let me give you some tips, i think that maybe you use too much black when painting, maybe you could try other colors to make shadows and contrast, that would make the volumes and distances look better. :)

    Lets see whats next!

    Re: Art of Suiter

@ liransz.. Thanks. I'm always looking for tips and tricks to get better. I will definitely try that. I usually don't start out using black but I find myself ending up with it.. *note to self..be more aware. use other colors, and lay off the black ;-)*

This was a fun little piece. I used only 1 brush for everything. A brush I'd never use for an entire painting. It was a challenge I ran across on the web posted by Daarken a year or two back. I kept this one simple but I'll probably do another piece later thats more detailed.
