However we are a brand new small studio so for now that is a long way off.

We are currently looking for a variety of people to join our staff. Please read our "About" page under Now Hiring.

"About" page? Now Hiring? Where? Don't you have a dedicated website?

    *Responsibilities*

As a freelance member of iCreate Stuidos you should:
    1. Try to get commission jobs for yourself & the company.
    2. Share your commission jobs with the company.
    3. Maintain & update your Gallery folder.

    *Payments, Commissions & Wages*

Payment is based on commission depending on the needs of the customer. Each staff member who works as part of the team will be paid 15% - 20% of the final payment once all work is complete. iCreate Studios will take 15% for admin costs. Any remaining funds will be added onto staff wages.

You want me to find the work, do the job, then let you take 15% of the income for doing nothing?

    From the website (Deviantart-page):

"Whether you're just starting out or your's a veteran, iCreate Studios needs you. We are looking for artists, writers, designers, models & photographers to join our team.

Each staff member will be given their own folder in the Gallery to upload work for customers to browse.

    Staff Benefits:
    1. Use iCreate Studios to sell yourself & your work.
    2. Get paid on commission.
    3. Work as a team for help & support.
    4. Be given a company title.

    *Joining*

    1. Comment or send a note to the founder: (link removed)

    2. Please include any skills or experience.

I'm not an expert, but I'm interpreting this as: If you are currently working as an artist and taking commissions, you get paid 100% (except if you have an agent). If you work for iCreate you get 15-20% of the money, plus maybe something extra, AND you should bring in commissions not only for yourself but also for the others (thereby possibly getting the little extra but not the 15-20%). I might be wrong but it sounds like a losing deal, to me. Basically one should work ones butt off just like before and in return one gets less money and a fancy title. Yay?

I'm curious, though. When you say "we are hiring" - how many are you? There are only three images currently in the gallery and they're all from one person (the founder). Of the ten members some either don't have a gallery or draw like children, which makes me wonder if they are "hired" or if anyone can be a member of the group at deviant art? If so it's not exactly giving a professional impression (but then neither is using DA as a company website...)

Indeed. And I would have severe misgivings about working for someone who wishes to be known as "The Founder".  Indifferent

Re: A new digital art studio

lmao at the followup postings here. ... :) I'll just say sorry up front here, but silly thoughts were running through my head while reading all this.

I was thinking that maybe someone from this site should create a similar biz called "Ucreate-Studios" because hey, after all, it will be "U" that does all the work! :) And U are even mentioned in the company's title! :D

Just to think, U could even offer better incentives too:

Letting the artist keep 30% of the normal pay they would receive, if they weren't stupid

Allowing them to keep 1/2 of the other jobs they located for me, um, I mean U :)

And instead of the company creating you a title, U can even pick you own! ...Mr. Mrs. Sir, sucker, your choice.

And as well, you would  have your very own gallery with us too. ..Which you already created before joining, and thus having full operational upkeep responsibilities as it's been since you started it.

I did say sorry before posting, just found this too funny. :)

Oh, let it stay! I love posts like this. They make me laugh, and I think we all have a jolly good time ripping the authors a new one.

I'd be very worried about the business acumen of someone who doesn't know the difference between "staff" and "freelance", and the resulting payment implications of those terms.
