Deadline:

Midnight (GMT) on Saturday 30th April. There is a 5 minute grace period allowing people to get their posts and links sorted. A moderator will then post a list of valid entries after checking links and voting will begin and continue until midnight (GMT) on 7th of the following month. Crits are welcomed during the voting process. Toward the end of the current challenge a new challenge setter will be randomly chosen from those taking part in the WIP thread to set the next monthly challenge, so keep an eye out.

All comments, crits, discussion, and all WIPs (required for entry) should be posted in THIS thread. Final entries should be posted in the finals thread:

Brief rules and additional info:

A minimum of 2 WIPs are required in addition to your final entry. Links to these should be posted along with your final entry in the finals thread. A link is provided below to details of how to do this. You may be disqualified if you do not post WIP links correctly.

All artwork must be the work of the entrant, and completed within the time frame of the challenge. You may only enter 1 entry per challenge, and may only cast 1 set of votes during voting.

Please keep entries and WIPs below 500k and a maximum of 1000 pixels across. Larger files causes problems for all users, especially those on slower connections.

Moderators monitor the voting in these challenges to combat cheating and maintain fairness. We may discount any vote we consider suspicious, and will disregard any attempts at sabotaging the voting, or in any way screwing with these challenges.

Hey everyone... well I have an idea for this.. just sort of playing around with the concept of some disturbing facial visage filling your vision as you get the the other side of the darkness. Don't know if its what I will stick to but had a little time this afternoon and haven't entered the weeklies or monthlies for a while now!

Thanks, Dave. ... My first 2 or 3 choices I came up with had already been done before. So I searched all the older challenges and tried to come up with something new. Look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Daily Drawing Theme

I was thinking about sharks... how they come gliding out of the dark (shark week fan here) and then I thought what about opening your door and seeing that same type thing, but with a monster. This should be fun.

ooooh I like whats happening here so far Zephyr (do you agree that Jaws is the best comedy movie of all  time :)

 

Heres my start, not sure If I will keep firing in this direction. Heavily into the Earths Children series (Clan of the cave bear is book1) especially as I have reread them in anticipation of book 6 just being released. So Paeolithic man is on my mind right now.

 Heres my start anyway, thinking I will work up the cave to be more... cavelike but perhaps a bit more mystical...

this is the original sketch from my moleskine, was going to have fish in the doorway and ripples across the floor but changed to a cave and a snow capped mountain under the moon...

Daily Drawing Theme

Hi.. well a chance turning off of some layers this morning has led me down a slightly different idea path! I am sort of thinking along the old book covers of the 70's and 80's. This is just a loose idea at the moment, I'm not entirely sure what the figure will be just yet or even what the underlying story structure might be but my gut instinct says it will all become clear :D

Digital Dave - Like the theme and it looks like this is going to be a good challenge.

Abscnth- I really like the design...nice abstract image that leaves it to the viewer to put their own interpretation on it

ZephrA- Good coloring and shadows, like the premise as well. I saw Jaws when vacationing on the coast....did not go into the water rest of vacation...though now when I see it I can laugh at parts.

Chantika- like your concept as well. Am also fan of the Earth's Children series ...glad to hear there is another on the way. 

Interesting challenge title. I'm trying to decide what's beyond the Darkness. Light/ Hope/ More evil/ the government/ Mary Kay?

Changing myself one pixel at a time

Mary Kay, Radish? Now that is scary!   ... Thanks Hobby, hope you're going to join in then? My wife actually suggested I try to put something together for this one, since I was asked to come up with the theme. (my first challenge) Don't have much free time really, but I will try to work on this a little here and there between remodeling the kitchen. And if things go bad, I can always blame her!  ...but yes, there are already some nice wips for this one.

Here's a little update on the sketch. Still working things out.
