    Mhugo's Sketchbook

Decided to start a sketchbook too,  hope i can maintain my motivation to update it frequently;)

I am kind of unhappy with the last one because i am still not sure how i will color it...guess i have to work a bit more with the colormoods.

    Re: Mhugo's Sketchbook

    Hey welcome to the sketchbooks!

These images are great, partiulary the last one. Personally I'd roll with the second colour image because the colours make certain aspects 'pop'. Also a couple of the others seem a little washed out but on this one the different tones are working together really well. Your lighting and brush work on this is fantastic.

I hope you can find the time to update this thread more :o)

Great stuff, Mhugo. I've really been enjoying your entries for the challenges, so it's cool to have a peek behind the scenes. That dragon fight in the cave is fantastic, as is the last piece. I'm partial to the version with the green sky myself, because I like the mood.

Riox, thank you for the warm welcome ;)

Smolin, thanks for your words, really encouraging! I like the dragon piece too, but i got stuck and didnt touch it for weeks and usually i find it difficult to continue working on an older piece. But i might give it a try...

Halogen, thank you for your encouraging words:)

    Dave, thank you too;)

I love the atmosphere you create in your pieces. Beautiful.

And, lol! I love the girl with the dog. I swear I had that exact same outfit circa 1994! ;) Love it!

    Re: Mhugo's Sketchbook

Thank you Red Ninja, a friend of mine used to wear outfits like the girl ones a couple years ago, was great fun to see some old photos to get some inspiration =)

Some enviroment studies and another dragon, i guess again its more than mere sketches, but i had quite some fun with these;)

    Re: Mhugo's Sketchbook

LOL, that's great. Does your friend know she was an inspiration? Mine are either embarrassed or flattered. Sometimes both! ;)

I really love the thick, moody atmospheres you create in many of your pieces. You set the stage beautifully. There is weight to these pieces.

Man that dragon is frightening, great job! I think you should post some of these in the 2D Finished section as well.

hey man, great work in here! love the greyscale images on top!! the bugs rock! i think your characters could benefit from some more anatomy studies, but its minor, the designs really stand out. anyhoo, keep it up man, loving what im seeing!

    Re: Mhugo's Sketchbook

Red Ninja, no, she knows not that she was an inspiration yet, and i almost hope this wont chance. It touches a period in her life she is not proud about and she is really quick-tempered;)

As for the 2D Finished section i thought about it too, but i am pretty lazy sometimes and i usually get lost easily between to much forums;) I will see how i ll do with this sketchbook-thread and maybe expand later on;)

Nickybeats, thank you, and yes, you are absolutely right about this anatomy stuff...guess i should do much more life-drawing, but right now its hard to find some time for it.
