To celebrate the release of our latest issue about Dungeons & Dragons, we’ve got another competition for you! We’re giving away THREE one-year subscriptions* to ImagineFX! Woo!

(This is also a great way to see what you people are painting!)

The deadline is 5pm (UK time) Friday 19 November. We’ll pick the winners at random and post the winners’ names shortly afterwards on Facebook.

Click here to see what’s in the issue – and to get the free calendar!

*If you already subscribe, we’ll add 13 issues to your current subscription.

Isn't that two facebook-only competitions in a fortnight? I'm glad I can't paint quick enough to enter them, otherwise I'd be a bit annoyed.

edit: and I was under the impression you had to post one of your pieces, not make a new one (unless you want to I guess)

Hmm... i have to admitt that I am not far from giving in. I mean, every place is using facebook for different things. Like this dang place. I'm actually feeling left out. BUT I would like to make it less on my person then on me as an artist. Just dontt know how.... hmmm

I'm probably growing old or something ,but I don't really see the point of things like Facebook and Twitter... I guess it might be a way to set up a personal page if you don't have your own website (and it makes it easier to connect all those pages with each other, I'm guessing) but these social communities tend to be popular for a while and then something else takes over and you have to start being active there as well... In the end you don't have the energy to keep up with it all, anyway. And I find it mildly annoying that people send you pictures (of their new baby for instance) but you have to have a facebook account to see them, and even in your professional life you're adviced to "market yourself" in these places. Right. I'm sure my boss'd be real happy if I started spending several hours a week on facebook? (Not to mention I find it hard to think anyone marketing themselves on facebook would really be serious and professional - I wouldn't take it for granted, anyway!)

And honestly, for a magazine & community like IFX I don't really see why it's not enough to have one website with forum... I do get that there's more exposure, but still... So, I'm old and grumpy, I guess, but I prefer not to have to waste my time in too many places at once... (I also prefer not getting "friends requests" by the dozen from people I have no idea who they are and tonnes of spam, which always seem to come with those social networks...

    enough whining... Zip it!

For private persons, its just for fun. IFX, CA and such, I really dont see the point that much. But some buisnesses actually benefit from it. We have a pub here I Bergen called Bien which first set up a account as a person. When it was discovered they actually were a buiness and not a person, Facebook deleted their account. They actually had a very slow time then before they set up  a new account as a buisness. Then it bloomed again. And they say Facebook is gold for them. My freind Rieg (who I am making the cd cover for) has a twitter account. He got contacted by two web based radio stations through it wanting to play his music on their stations. And he got very popular on htose radios. So yea, I admitt these web places are much the new advertising bilboard today. And this is one of the other reasons I am wondering on getting a Facebook account. And a twitter account.
