    AR-Pro Chat - Live - Launches Nov 29th - 2010

    AR-Pro Chat - Live - coming Monday Nov 29th 2010

    Hi Guys,
With the support of It'sArtmag.com (specifically Patrice Leymarie, creator and maintainer of the site) and the approval of the wonderful team here, several of us ArtRagers are launching a new live chat session based completely around ArtRage. It launches -
November 29th 2010 at 2.30pm UK time (GMT) - which is about 9.30am US time
Link banner should take you to the forums page - scroll down until you see it.

Currently it involves the extremely talented illustrator Jon Hodgson begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting as a fairly regular guest (subject to work pressures), Gaeton Laprade, better known on the Ambient forum as fount of knowledge Someonesane, and myself. The idea is to provide a place where folk can ask pro users questions, see and get involved in live interviews and generally interact. The plan is to record the sessions to build into a library resource about ArtRage.

I've set up a forum thread there where you can pose questions in advance to be answered in proposed, dedicated Q&A sessions - dates to be set.

See it as an outreach unit of the Ambient forum and nothing more though. I hope to build a lean resource library there to complement that forum, but urge that is the place for all such things as crits, wips and more general social interaction. If the It'sArt forum becomes too bloated it will work against it usefulness as a quick stop resource. Hope that doesn't sound unfriendly - it's really not meant to be and I apologise it it does sound that way. Friendliness and interaction are paramount to the success of this particular wing of the ArtRage family unit.

Obviously post your work here too, as it is still the liveliest, wide ranging and most welcoming forum about.  Here is a great place for taking off the software blinkers.  There is room for all the different flavour of forums, each with something to offer.

The first session will be a gentle introduction, with Jon, Gaeton and myself chatting while we work on screen for an hour or so. You can post questions and comment live by text on the page - but will have to register free with Vokle, the broadcast service, to do so ('join the event'). Although you can access it through Twitter as well if you have an account. Or you can just watch. Either way we'd love to have you come along and chat.

The second session is penciled in as an in depth interview with Jon. He is an absolute wizard with AR. Definitely not one to miss. I'll confirm the date and time and post a proper announcement nearer the broadcast time. Mondays are down as our slot in the It'sArt calendar for now, so that much I can tell you.

Just ran the second session which was an interview with UK based illustrator and art director, Jon Hodgson.  The first hour or so was recorded and can be found here.  He is a very talented and personable chap.

AR-Pro Chat 3- Live - Wet and Dry tools in ArtRage

Link Banner to page - but not much will be going on there until the actual time.

The third live session of ArtRage based content goes out Monday December 13th at 2.30pm GMT (UK).
Jon Hodgson begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting, Gaeton Laprade. (well known in the Ambient forum for his outstanding explanations as Someonesane) and myself will be comparing notes on how we use the various Wet and Dry media tools in ArtRage, while working live on screen. You can lob your own questions and comments in using the text messaging service provided on the page.
Or you can post them in advance to this forum thread - [link]
You need to register free with It'sArtMag.com and log in to be able to do so.

I did not get to watch your second session live (the one with Someonesane as 3rd guest) but I did watch it's recording online.....  I did enjoy it immensely... Great stuff...

Since I'm at work when they are live, will you continue to offer future sessions as recordings online?

    Cheers

    Ken

Re: AR-Pro Chat 3- Live - Wet and Dry tools in ArtRage

    Hi Ken,

Gaeton and Jon are both great to listen to aren't they?  And have a wealth of knowledge both about art and technique in general and ArtRage in particlar.  Glad if you are finding it helpful - that's the hope - that folk will find it useful.

Yes, the plan is to continue broadcasting regularly on a Monday, beginning again in the New Year (a Christmas and New Year break seems only sensible).  First Monday in Jan 2011 at 2.30pm, GMT UK time is penciled in to resume No specific theme decided yet, but we'll sort something out and advertise that info before the date.

Yes, the plan is also to continue recording the first hour for posting in the relevant forum on It'sArtMag site.  Our set up doesn't currently support a longer recorded stint than that, but we try to ensure we include the juiciest meat of each broadcast in that hour.  So let's hope the forthcoming recordings include bits and pieces that tick some of the right boxes for you.  You can always post some suggestions/questions in the thread set up there for that very purpose if you have something specific you'd like us to address.  Or maybe start a thread on the Ambient forum for that and point me at it???
