This is kind of an experiment for me. Its a rougher than I usually work. Mostly 4b and hb build up after a thumb. I just let the pencil run wild only keeping to the composition and light direction of the thumb.

I love the background. Your sky looks as if the world's been wrapped in wax paper.

Hehe .-yea youre right Sat:) Well -guess that is due to the soft pencil I was using. Normally I wouldnt use such  a soft pencil on the sky, but this was a bit of an experiment in half improvised sketchy workflow to see how that would look as a finished. And it was a way for me to loosen up my hand when working with pencil. I would usually use somthing like a 2H - 4H pencil on the sky.

There will probably come some more pencil wrk here soon. I have decided to make some pencil drawings for my exhibition i september, and I am now in the process of setting up some motifs and photograph them. I often like to use photos as a base for much of my fine arts stuff. I like what photogrphy does to the motif as a filter for drawing from. Its something with the lighting it gets and the fact that the lighting then is 100% static instead of ever changing as it will when using a live setup. Not that I dont like live setups aswell. I use that just as often when it comes to still lifes.

Oh I love this! I think the thing the skull is on is a bit indistinct or blurry, so I can't really tell what it is (tree stump? covered table?) but I really like the simplicity of the image and the way you did the shearers and the skull. Even if I don't know what they symbolize and can't give you any suggestions for a name... :)

I like the charcoal piece. I haven't done any charcoal for awhile now. I picked up a stack of paper a couple weeks ago with the intent of spending a couple days working with charcoal and never got around to it. blah

Volu: Thanks. Yea that cloth its on is a bit indestinct. I readid it alot. And seeing that this is not digi... well to much fixing can ruin a piece, so I had to stop somewere. I might go back and give it a last try, but I doubt it.

 Looking at this piece reminds me that I need to get out more often. Heaven knows what else I've missed. (Though sad to say I still miss using my disc drive, that's for sure.

Just love this! I don't mind at all that you can't really see what it is that the skull is resting on (tree stump, table with tablecloth?). Actually I think that rather adds to it, so I hope you leave it just as it is...

Think you must have used my old fashioned thread snipper as a model, LOL, the shears looks just like it (they still make them just like this, even if most use more modern ones - these work super for sewing though :) )!

Kanskje jeg kan få spørre deg om en ting også, hvis du fremdeles følger med tråden... Hva heter en "kneaded eraser" på norsk? Hva skal jeg spørre etter når jeg skal kjøpe en? Kan ikke huske å ha sett slike i butikkene her, men det hjelper kanskje hvis jeg spør spesifikt... :)

I just stumbled over this forum today. What a great site, even if I'm not much into digital art (except for doing some photography)! Very inspiring for a newbie to acrylics to see all these great paintings/drawings etc.! :)

Hi Lotta. Thanks for the kind words. Those shears are actually bout in Hamar at the Domkirke odden. And is fully functional. They really knew how to make shears in medeival times:) Hope to see some of your's on the boards one time:)

By you question I take it the you are a foreigner living in Norway? In that case were do you live and are you here on studies? Just curious. To answer, kneeded ereaser is called "knett gummi" in Norwegian.

If you mean last months, then yes I did some time ago. As to this months, I've been too apprehensive to put it in! I figured I wouldn't even try, but wouldn't you know it has a tut by Marta Dahlig. Now I guess that I could get the tut itself here on the site, but not the support files, right? 

Oh, excuse me. .m .'frellin'? Do you mean 'frakkin' by chance? Or is it a Norweigian thing?
