    Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

    a Recap:

Since I have like 20comic pages to do in 30days, I won't be able to play around as much as I've been doing up till now...but to prove I haven't dissapeared off the face of the planet, I'll add some concept sketches, panel work, and inking in here as I go in effort to bore all the digital artists out of their skulls!! hahahaha! Anyway.

First story I want to get finished is Damned Carnival, written be me, and it's only 4pages, with only 7panels in total....for good reason. If you're smart and follow the sketches you might figure out why!

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

And in response to Fablegoat (I think it was you??) I'm just going to color it grayscale as it's for a b/w publication! But sometimes that's even more fun! As for the dude eating with the funny expression, well, he's 1second from puking!

Anyway, here's more random sketches to get my sketchbook started off:

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

I like these even more than the first batch Phreaky.

Full of dynanism and energy.  Probably due to the subject matter of course.  Not so much toilet paper in these.  Bet your sketchbook fills up really fast.

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

    Thanks Nick!

Yeh they're a bit more dynamic etc, cuase it's a different subject matter...but you'll see what I have planned for these, hopefully I'll pull it off.

Here's two more I did 2nite, hopefully I'll get one more in before I get to bed...

    more of the same:

Oh, the girl on the bed made me re think my monster in the closet approach, so I will probably redo it all together.

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

    Solid stuff Phreak.

Great foreshortening in the girl on the bed  piece and the one of guy who's taken to drink because she dumped him.  Love his toes - no not in a fetish type way.

Then onto soooooper dynamic foreshortened inks just overflowing with action.  Plus a moody tattooed guy, whose expression and pose is spot on.  Impressive array of drawings already and you haven't been adding to it for 24 hours yet.  I get the impression you work pretty quickly and fluently.

Are these last three more personal work or for something else (nosey time).

    Cheers,
    Nick

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

    Hi there Nick!

Thanks a lot for your comments! Glad you like them.....and the toes.....(remind me to wear full shoes when I'm online).

I really like to play around with foreshortening, and it's always risky to exagirate too much etc, but it's worth the risk if you pull it off. As for your other question, these are all for myself. I like practising, and drawing a diverse group of characters. I think it makes you a stronger doing so, cause your field of competence increase. I belong to a few sites including my own, who have weekly sketch challenges. It forces one out of your comfortzone to experiment with character you won't care about drawing otherwise. The dude with the gun is actually a concept sketch for a story I'm working on. It's been kind of put on hold due to everything else I'm doing but hope to get back to it soon. With that I was trying to do it in the style of Tim Bradstreet, and artist who's work I LOVE: www.timbradstreet.com check it out!

    Hey Chison!

Thanks, but go at your own pace you'll pick up a lot more if you don't push yourself too much!

Here's 2more quickies I did for the story:

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

the girl on the bed is a very strong drawing - once again great foreshortening, the character reminds me a little of how Geof Darrow draws people. Nice work. What pens did you use on this piece?

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

great work Neville. I like the guy breaking into the drawer but I think you've made his foot quite a bit smaller than it should be.  even with the foreshortening I don't think his hands would be that much bigger than his feet.

    Re: Phreaky's oodles of Doodles

You're right fablegoat! I'll blow it up with photoshop, As I read your comment I thought damn....without even looking at it I knew that was what was bothering me while I was drawing it!

Taboolie, I vary between a lot of pens mostly mikron and rotring now'a'days! But I start off with .1mm ,and work my way up to .7mm

    Thanks for the comments guys!
