Coffee [C] At Pxel Slayers, where fun never ends!

    Attachment: WIP.jpg

Ok, so here we go...Hello, boys and girls! I`m Marko AKA Pxel Slayer, and this is my own little "so-you-think-this-is-art" sketchbook. My second one, actually. I have one at CA.org, but after posting day after day after day for...umm...5 days? I got one reply. That`s right. One. What, in heavens name, does a guy have to do to get some CC, huh? Then I remembered an advice that was given to me by EmiliaPaw back at dArt, in moment when I felt completely depressed and frustrated, that there`s this site with great people who are willing to help out with their CC, and that with time they`ll grow on you. And, since I`ve became quite fond of Emilia in the mean time (amazing how a complete stranger can have such an amazing positive influence on one), here I am! Wether you like it or not...:)

As for my art...sheesh, to upload it all here would take some time...so be a happy little camper and visit http://markothesketchguy.deviantart.com/gallery/  and have a look...As soon as I finish something "representable" (yea, right), I`ll post it here. Which should be tomorrow or even today, as I have no social life what so ever. Actually...I am working on something right now, I could use your advice on - it still very rough, but I`m drawing w/o references (bad boy, bad boy!) and need a fresh pair of eyes...I always had issues with anatomy, which isn`t bad for my college (I study fashion design), but let`s face it - women DON`T have legs that go up to their necks!

Ok, I guess this would be it, for starters...Now if I could just figure out how to upload files...hmmmm*....

Re: At Pxel Slayers, where fun never ends!

Don`t you worry, something`s telling me from now on there`s going to be quite a few of them....Big Smile (mental note to self - lady with the pretty avatar =Kazky)

Okies! So, I was thinking (yes, seems I can do that), and I figured, this drawing looks a bit like a super hero....but which one? I was wondering if anyone has any requests/ideas of other super-women, whose image I could make. And - redesign!  Just to put my "design" skills to the test. Some of those ladies still wear those "OMG, like, THAT OUTFIT is, like, sooooo fifties, hon!", but who could it be? Which one of those lucky ladies is going to get a makeover? Who, in your opinion, needs it the most? Post your ideas!

A little sketch before bedtime...I mean, really, if I continue like this, I`ll have to rename this sketchbook into something like "Pxels kinky emporium"...Stick out tongue

really like the leaf fairy pxel, you should work that one up, would look great coloured with a foresty background. I'm also still thinking of ideas for your superhero woman, where do you live if you're going to bed now? or are you in the UK & just really reeeeaaaalllly tired! lol

Re: At Pxel Slayers, where fun never ends!

Well, what do you know, I think you`re on to something here...hmm, a forrest background...that would work! Hey, thanks! She`s still a WIP, I noticed her b00biez are a bit off, the hand (yet again!) could use some work, the wings are craving for details...phew!

Super hero woman, here I come! LOL Keep on thinking, I don`t read comics so I don`t know any characters (well, I know Superman, Batman, Spiderman, but they don`t have curves like that Wink ), and speaking of curves - I fixed them, so she`s not sagging like that anymore Angel...

    Current residence - Croatia.

    Current mood - drop dead...tired

    Morning everyone!

Some random thoughts here - I was thinking about the fairy, and figured out there’s SO MUCH for me to learn. Let’s say the line art is done, so...what now? First of all, how do I decide on the colour scheme? Her pose is a bit confusing as well...what should she be lying on? A big flower, a branch...something else? But colouring is definitely my biggest concern. I just started "painting" with Photoshop (about 2 weeks ago), and I’m just scared it will mess up the entire image. I know it’s a learning process, but still...damn you, impatience! Damn you, clumsy hands! Damn you, dirty dishes! Big Smile

Here’s a little comic I made a couple of days ago...found out that these scribbles have a relaxing effect on me, so hey - why not, right?

I’ll tackle you, colours...I will break you down!*

Wow....unbelievable....you actually got a reply in only five days! Seriously....I have posted and received only one reply in about two weeks.....and even one time I didn't get any replies....CA is a big place.....sometimes it's hard to get in when everyone is actually online and looking....course you being on the opposite side of the globe from where many CArs are doesn't help anymore than me being on the opposite side from most of the "ladies with pretty avatars" are located. CA is also more oriented towards professionals and those who have been in the industry.

Oh, man, no wonder I only got just one reply...LOL I`m not a professional (like, D`UH!), nor am I in the industry...what was I thinking?! Big Smile

Well, the latest from the sweatshop. I have to stop making sketches and start learning how to paint them. I already have several of them piled up, waiting for some colours...fat chance that`s gonna change soon XD

This one took me...ages. Yea, I have no idea how many hours I spent on it. Thanks to me refusing to use references ( I, moron) the anatomy was all over the place (at one point she looked like a thing that came from the outter space. Kinda still does LOL), and then we have the shading, the perspective, lightning, matching the colours...ugh... I`m posting this one for you guys to CC, I really need to know where my flaws are, what to really pay attention to and that sort of stuff. I need you to be brutal (you know - tough love Wink ), because that`s the only way for any useable information to penetrate my little brain. One can`t learn that much in only 2 weks without CC given by a fresh pair of eyes, right? The veil thingy was done in 15 minutes, so I already know it stinks. She isn`t as pretty as the lady with the pretty avatar, that`s for sure!

    Post away!

Re: At Pxel Slayers, where fun never ends!

Oh she is definitely stunning! Really like her proportions. Just a few crits:

you are using only one color with different shades for the whole image, skin has pinks, greens, blues etc, if you struggling to choose colors then sample them from an image, it always helps a little more or download one of Marta Dahlig's superb workshops from this site, she is amazing with drawing females.

decide where your light is coming from, right now the image looks a bit flat without a specific light source. Think about what mood you are trying to create.

That veil doesn't look like anything, try and look for references of veils and see how transparent they are, how the light bounces off them, what texture they have etc...

    Welcome!

Watch out for her shoulder. The deltoids and the biceps are not connected correctly right now.
