November 2009 Challenge - 'Out of the Mist' - WIP Thread!

The theme for this month is...

    ‘Out of the Mist’

I wanted to pick a theme that was open to a lot of different interpretation. I am looking forward to seeing what you all can come up with.

    Have fun everyone! :)

Deadline for entry is midnight (GMT) on MONDAY 30th November. There is a 5 minute grace period for getting your entries posted properly, after which a moderator will post a list of valid entrants and voting begins. Voting will then close at midnight GMT on MONDAY 7th DECEMBER, when a moderator will total up the votes and announce a winner. Toward the end of the challenge a mod will pick someone at random from the participants to set a new challenge for next month (so keep an eye out, TRUST ME IT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT).

Work in progress must be posted in this thread (please restrict conversation to this thread and keep the finals thread clear). Final entries should be posted in the FINAL ENTRIES thread: http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/thread/253065.aspx

Brief rules: It is compulsory to submit a minimum of 2 different WIP stages in the WIP thread in addition to your entry. Links to your WIPs must be included for you to be eligible for inclusion. Artwork must also be created within the time period of the challenge, any previously created works will be disqualified. Moderators will discount any votes deemed suspicious and adjust the result accordingly.

Further info on the WIP rule and a guide to adding WIP links can be found here: http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/thread/107660.aspx
A general guide to the challenge rules can be found here: http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/thread/53757.aspx
A guide to posting images on the forum can be found here: http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/thread/703.aspx

Finally, please keep posted artwork to a sensible size, preferably below 500k and around 1100 pixels or less. This is especially important in the WIP thread as we have to check these when setting up voting, and there are also members on slower internet connections that should be considered. Thanks.

On Thursday I started work on what I hoped would be an entry into the Rebel's Challenge 45: Ooh Scary!. I was only able to put about an hour of work into it. It would be perfect for this challenge. Would I be breaking the rules if I entered it into this? It is not a completed work - not even close at this point.

Really entries should be created within the time span of the challenge, but I guess it would depend on how far along your pic was.

You can see how far I am here

I didn't have the time to continue after that.

I'd certainly start a new image, but I also want to finish this one and it seems to fit the subject perfectly.

Yep, has made me a little cautious (still couldn't keep from scribbling a little though Big Smile). Can we be sure this will remain the monthly subject, Banj (or any other mod)?

A great subject other than that, Cellesria and I already have a vague idea for it. But maybe some will think it's to similar to Augusts. Anyway, I will of course join no matter what the subject. Can't miss my monthly "putting everything together" practice, can I? Geeked

Well I have successfully spent the entire day procrastinating doing any paying work to do this piece...This is actually a painting of my husband and myself.  I am planning to maybe have it done for his B-day.  His birthdays December 1st.  So might as well kill two birds with one stone.  I hope you all will help me make this a special piece.  Any crit would be appreciated.  I am planning on having us falling out of a mist.  and within the mist have little hearts all around I was also thinking about an intricate boarder as well.

Rorke - That's looking very very nice. I also checked out your Concept Art links you provided. You have some beautiful work. Looking forward to this

Re: November 2009 Challenge - 'Out of the Mist' - WIP Thread!

It's interesting theme i think, maybe something from horror or from the see I will try to paint.

I hope i get better then in past mounth challenge - no one doesn't write nothing about my work - it is a little sad because I wan't to learn and I thought that this is a good place. Maybe I was wrong, we'll see.

Cellesria was that your work I saw in a recent Corel Painter magazine? It was titled "The Jewel". If it was it is a impressive piece of work and you should be very proud of it. wel i have two maybe three very different ideas for this one. Do i do another of my western heroine Cal. A brooding demon or a twist on Jack the Ripper.

I'd say as long as nobody else has any objection to you entering it, then carry on with it.

no problem here. you asked and had a reasonable explanation and it is at the early stage of the challenge.
