    Importing cintiq from USA

So i'd like to buy a cintiq 12wx

Here in Sweden a 12wx is 1600usd, while its 900usd in USA.

I have not heard anything about cintiqs breaking, but it could happen i suppose..

Just wondering if anyone have imported from usa to europe and how things have worked with warranty

EDIT: Seems like no one ships to sweden so it doesnt matter

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

Seems cintiq's warranty is covered in USA and Canada. Limited warranty for the Caribbean, South and Central America. Outside of these areas your warranty is limited to the dealer that sold it to you.

But honestly if it is half the cost across the way, if it breaks you can pretty much just buy another one. Maybe even sell the old one for parts on ebay.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

When you say "no one ships to Sweden" do you mean that where you are buying it doesn't ship or that you cannot find someone to ship it to you?

Because I just found someone...FedEx, that ships to Sweden.

Is FedEx still selling Cintiqs? I thought they stopped selling that when they started selling double cheeseburgers. mmm, cheezeburgurs...

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

I don't believe I said anything about FedEx selling Cintiqs....only shipping them. I'm sure they would even ship those double cheeseburgers if you put them in the proper container.

Just an FYI....I live about 2 miles from the N. American Headquarters for Wacom.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

When saying "no one ships to sweden" i meant those places i have looked at.
Seems that amazon cant ship cintiq to sweden, but i can buy all other Wacom products.. maybe it's because the cintiq is a LCD.

BUY.com                     - cant choose country to ship to
pcuniverse.com            - cant choose country to ship to
antonline.com              - cant choose country to ship to
    electronicadirect.com   - only usa/canada

Maybe i can email amazon and ask if they can ship it to me anyway.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

Okay...so what you mean is that none of the places that you can purchase from here are willing to ship it to you, which really doesn't make a whole lot of sense since I would think that they would use a carrier that could if you paid for it. I mean....c'mon...a customer is a customer...does it really matter where you have to ship the product to? Aren't we living in a global economy?

I'm betting it's not  just because it's an LCD....big box too, what with the power adapter and vga cable thingy. Probably weighs 30 pounds or more.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

I'll try emailing them and ask :)

I think you are right about it being too bulky..tried to order other stuff like furnitures, guitars.. wont work either.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

that's ridiculous, surely some company must ship to you? is there no Swedish electronic company that does the cintiq? That would make me so mad, looks like you might have to pay full price Sad

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

I dont really understand what you mean kazky, we have companys selling the cintiq in sweden, but for 1500usd.

I have been reading up a bit and it seems that maybe it's not so easy to get away from swedish taxes (25%) when importing.

So that would end up beeing a total of 1300usd including taxes, still cheaper than sweden, but maybe it's good to have that warranty..

I have a relative in Alaska, could ask here to ship it here, and avoid taxes. Thats another possibility.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

Yeah, if its a relative, its probably your best bet.

They can even claim it as a gift when sending it to you to avoid almost all taxes. Good luck. They are alot of fun. Alot of fun.

Penabled, you gotta find me someone that will ship me cooked cheezeburgers.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

    update:

I would had to pay taxes even if it said gift on the package, that and the guarantee made me buy it in sweden instead.

Had it for 1 day now, loving it :) though it has a lot of jitter. The jitter is really noticeable round the edges about 2cm in, but i can also notice it in the middle of the screen :/ i tried this with the wacom bamboo as well, and it has about the same amount of jitter when displayed on the cintiq. I read something about it not being shielded, maybe thats the reason, i will read up on this. Also the mouse pointer is a bit off because of the thick glass/acrylic screen.

None of this really matter when drawing, so far. But it is annoying Stick out tongue

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

have you calibrated it yet? i have the cintiq 12wx and i have no jitter apart from the extreme edge, i've never used the mouse so i can't comment on that.

    Re: Importing cintiq from USA

with calibrate you mean where the cursor shows? That has nothing to do with the jitter, or have i missed something here

I googled  "cintiq jitter" and it is a well known problem, some people have a unit with less jitter some with more. It has (propably) something to do with the shielding of the device.

    mouse pointer = cursor

You could try reducing the amount of local RF interference, turning off or moving things like cell phone, cordless phone, cordless keyboard and mouse, wireless headset and such just to see if maybe there is a specific device possibly causing more than it should.
