He is not the only one with the good brush at his side!

Let me take a wild guess here IFX.........You are inviting Craig Mullins to talk to you about his life and work and the project in wich he is involved in, but there will be no tutorials for us. Something tells me that he will say something that he always repeats when people starting asking him about his art. He always says that people ask him about how he does it and his response will be as usual "go and learn to paint and stop bugging me with your How do you do it" or he will refer to the artist Sargent.

If he doesnt make a tutorial for us, of wich i think so many are craving to get or at least to see, then why bothering with the invitation? I think many have pased the phase of looking upp to that guy, because he just doesnt care. I was one of them. Now after getting some artistic help frome much more professional artists who help out, and from my own artistic development, i came to realise that his help is not so important after all.

This kind of reminded me of George Lopez (yes the comedian) who in one of his shows said that when he was just an growing artist, he ones wanted to shake hand of another big comedian and that one didnt wanted to shake his hand because he was not on the same level as him. Now when he became a star and hade his own standup he desided to deliver a messege to that acter and that was....( no i wont say it, try and find it on youtube or semwhere) I kind of feel the same now giving Craig Mullins my personal thanks but no thaks.

This is what i think you guys at the IFX have done and this is my personal point of view on this guy. He can take this badly if he want, but at the same time he knows that this one doesnt just come frome one person.

...................I think i just made my point.

I'm afraid you took the words right out of my mouth. In another world this would be called trolling, i.e. inventing a completely hypothetical scenario and then, for effect, starting an argument about it.

Blackwolfman, will you please stop whining like a pup at the table? Nobody owes you anything! You're making me embarrassed and ashamed and I don't even know you.

Personally I had this fantastical dream where Craig Mullins decided to give you some art tips and you subsequently created yet another thread in the Comments and Suggestions section and challenged him to a duel.

If you go back through some past issues, BWM, you'll see that we rarely get workshops from the legends - and especially not in the same issue as their interviews. That's not what the feature is for. In this case it was for our 50th issue, so we thought we'd like to get someone big, who rarely interviews, and who featured highly on our list.

Sometimes such interviews do start a relationship whereby we'll get a workshop out of them - look at Dave Gibbons, for instance. But in the main we're talking about the megastars here. People who are at the top of their game, and are so in demand that they would have little time to sort us out a tiddly little workshop. Some times they do, but when they don't, it doesn't mean that they're bad people - just busy people.

It's in no way a reflection on them that we haven't asked them to do a workshop. We realise that they've not always got the time. Believe me, they're not sitting in some ivory tower, casting the occasional of their pearls among we swine. They're busy people with busy lives, so think of it a bit more widely than that.

Well, BlackWolfMan, I guess your pint is quite valid, but at the same time isn't it a little based on your personal view on what it means to be a respectable individual? I mean, the digital art community generally give Craig Mullins high praises because he does good art, not because he always want to help out the community. It is true that many other good artists also do tutorials to help other people often, but that is because they felt like to do a tutorial so that is like an extra bones.

Mullins, as all other professionals, place his priority on his clients and his job. If one day, you, BlackWolfMan, hired Craig Mullins and was treated with could shoulders and shabby attitudes, then we as an art community would feel really bad toward this issue and thought he should have done better. But if you are blaming someone and imply that he does not deserve your respect because he is not willing to give you something extra outside of his career, then that is a little strange and simply does not comply with the standard of most society.

You'd rather have them decline because they don't have the time then make a half-assed tutorial no? Being booked for the next 6 month and knowing you wouldn't have time to make a good tutorial doesn't equate to being a jerk who think he's to good to give advice to the little people.

besides George Lopez isn't a very good comedian,
