    Dreams and vision

    DREAMS AND VISION

Objektiv,To generate realistic concept arts which I could use for game production and my portfolio.

    How i work

1, First, I look for the references I need.

2, Then, I scribble down the details which I like from the references and from my ideas.

3, After that, I start drawing thumbnails, trying out with different Perspectives, Compositions and Camera angles.

4 Then, I pick one thumbnail which I like the most and start making the basic shapes of the picture and refine it.

5 After that, I lay down another piece of paper on it and start sketching details.

6 Depending how clean the lines I want. I throw another piece of paper on top of  it and start cleaning-up.
But, often for concept art the sketch version works fine.

7 Once done with my sketch, I scan it and if necessary I clean the grains in Photo shop.

8 Then, I start figuring out the colors I want and test it until I am OK with them.

9 Then I just keep rendering detail until its good enough. Sometimes, it´s hard to achieve the desired result.
In that case, I try to match or reference a picture which is already rendered by a professional artist.

Mission1, My first assignment is to make 6 thumbnails everyday and take 1 of them into rendering stage by evening.
So, by the end of the week I should have 5 concept arts which I could render.
And, during the weekend render one of the concept arts.
In between, these days I can also watch and read tutorials on which I can get my hands on.
If, some days or weeks I don´t know what to do I can still have one of the concept arts from another weeks to render.

critique and comments are always welcome!

you can critique me on anything about the pictures

ex. which ones i should take further maybe, which ones are good to show in a portfolio, composition, color, rendering, perspective etc. etc

Ok. I thought maybe it was a webpage sketch or something. First, eahc thumb is a bit small to see. Second, give me some background for why you are making these. Work? Personal? Part of a bigger project? And what is that first picture. I cant make out what it says (and for anyone wanting to tell me about crtl+, still cant make it out). They seems nice, but it seems as a bigger project and thus I need more info on that.

I agree I can barley see what it says. I Tried to make the pictures to be shown bigger but I couldn't? Maybe you know how...

I explain why I make these pictures in that first one

here are two links to bigger versions:

I like your thumbnails! They really shows good composition and gives good sense of depth of the locations.

    Re: Dreams and vision

Hey again -had a look at these again. You know, they all look really great to me. I would just pick the ones that best describes your assignment in terms of what you want to tell. Be honest to your self. If you feel in your gut that A is better than the B, but the you feel the teachers might like B best. Well -pick A.

    The room

I wanted to render a room, decorated with atleast a chair or couch, rugg and perhaps a plant. Materials would primarly be in wood and stone

    Thumbnails:
    1. Though I like the dramatic expression of this one, the perspective seems off. Perhpas it would work better with a lower horizon?

    2. This one is A OK.

    3. Works, but I would probably add some smaller tea tables, two couches and have a bit more vegetation, to make it feel a bit more lively yet lifeless and abandoned.

    4. Too silent for me.

    5. Looks okej, but it's too boring.

    6. This feels interresting, but there is too much empty spaces.

    Conclusion:
I would either render 2 or 3; most likely 2 'cause it would require less effort to light.
