Hello. Someone commissioned me to do a 60x60 triptych (3 20x60 canvases) for him, with the only requirement being that it evoked the same emotions as the Lohner remix of Bring Me the Disco King (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwUfz2V76d0).

In the end I decided that a girl and giant alligator done in washed out cool colours surrounded by speckles of water lillies done in warm hues would be great. Unfortunately, it took me as long as projecting this picture onto the canvases to realize that it's just... wrong. It doesnt work and I need to redo it as soon as possible so I can get started so I can get finished so I can get paid so I can pay July's rent.

I need anything and everything you've got to say about this. The original thumbnail is bottom center.

/edit Oh and I'm not using the pose for the girl that's in this picture, it's just a placeholder scribble. I was going to use a picture my girlfriend modeled for, but she dumped me yesterday so I'm back to the drawing board on that too. This hasnt been a great week for me :)

Personally, I like the composition of the first pic on the last row. She's had a tough fight with the alligator and now she's just lounging and having a relaxing bath, like it was no big deal really.

Has great potential. Looking forward to see how you go with this.

I like the middle one the most as well.

What emotions do you think you have to show, listening to disco king? It is really an inspiring song, the way I see the picture is much light, clear blue water. Clean, natural surroundings. Maybe some water falling down with little drops, or go the other way. The perspective of the thumbnail in the middle attracks me the most listening to that song. But that is maybe because I especially like the beginning of the song, wich is different than the middle and the end. If you use that perspective, you could make the image a big bigger, a bit more surrounding to really give the idea that you are looking at it.

I like the middle one, but I'd also say I like the top right one as well.

just watch out for your sizes. in the full scale one you did first, the girl is quite tiny compared to the crocodile. if you did this, you'd have to have other elements in the image that show the girl is the proper size and that the croc is super huge.

Yeah that's one of the functions of the flowers.

There seems to be a miscommunication, the client already approved the one I did the rough for so I'm doing that one. Does anyone notice anything wrong with the actual alligator, like it's anatomy or perspective or anything?  Should they be zoomed in or zoomed out, should anything be moved around?

The Alligator is well drawn, except it does seem to have very small legs.

My query/crit/whatever is that I have no idea what's going on. There's a girl and an alligator and some flowers, but what's the relationship between them? Are they enemies? Comrades? Has she killed it? Why is her arm sticking out like that?

The technical, draughtmanship parts are good, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at.
