    Flatwork Portfolios

I have a question on the best way I could set up my flat-work portfolio. You see, I have a number of stories I've thought up over the years (like so many of us have) and with these stories, comes a boatload of characters and props, and environments, and everything else one would expect to see. So, right now, the entire thing is split up into 5 sections: Characters, Props, Vehicles, environments, and Miscellaneous design work.

The first 4 sections are split further keeping the characters, etc. from each story together, but I don't actually make mention of this in the portfolio as of now. It's just My question, is: should I? Should I include brief information about the characters, etc. and stories they belong to? Will anyone CARE? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That reminds me of a time when I ripped a whole cheeseburger out of my daughter's hand. I told her it was because I didn't want her to get mad cow disease, but really I was just hungry.

    Re: Flatwork Portfolios

personally, if you have a pet project like that I'd keep it separate. make up your portfolio with worthwhile images and a variety of subject matters. then make up just a small portfolio book for your pet project. that way you have your portfolio, but if their interested you can show them how well you put something together from start to finish.

as a designer I have my design portfolio which I always took to my interviews, but I always had a small 4x6 sized illustration portfolio that I took with me to show some of the other skills I use. though people liked my portfolio, I found they were usually impressed by my smaller book because it gave a bit of inside into 'me'.
