X-Train online art training special deal

In the quest for learning more about Ron Lemen, I found his tutorial video classes at X-Train. Each class has about 5 chapters with (5) 20-30 min videos each chapter that runs for about $79 per class.

But their annual subscription that is usually $200  is on sale for $79 which will give you access to all classes! This includes vector drawings in Illustrator, HDR digital photography, and much more!

I don't mean to sound like I'm pitching the site hard, but I was going to pay for 1 Ron Lemen class(he has a few on the site from traditional drawing to digital art) but now can access all classes offered on the site.

So its a deal to learn something new, even in areas you may thing you're strong in.

That sounds like a very good deal although compared to Lynda.com there aren't that many classes. It's probably worth it for Ron Lemen's alone but I'd be very interested in your opinion so far - if you have managed to look at some videos.

So after going through the classes I was pleased with the purchase. I love Lynda.com and Xtrain basically allows you to follow instructors on workflow instead of just learning to use programs. It's a bit similar to Gnomon workshops which in comparison cost $50 per DVD.

Ron Lemen  has 4 classes. Basic Techniques, Photoshop, Painter, and Design. The photoshop and painter progam workshops are mainly workshops dealing with subjects more than it is teaching how to use the program, but it's pretty cool to see how he jumps between utilities and layers.

This is from his Fundementals training:

In another workshop he teaches about values. He talks about not thinking in just color and then a darker or lighter color for shading but to think in values:

Then he goes on to show you how to paint in color over your values, so you can rethink how color is applied:

All in all, if you can find just 5 classes out of all they offer its a pretty good deal. You can preview all the classes and subjects too.

In addition to Ron Lemen I was interested in HDR:

So all in all, not a bad deal.
