    Cinema coverage in the mag.

    Hey folks,

I just wanted to find out what anybody has thought about the C4D tutorials in the mag so far (since I wrote them!)?

In the first, I tried to make sure that the basics of the interface, and the modal relationships were covered and explained, along with the basic use of the modeling tools, HyperNURBs etc. for those that may not have tried the app before.

I just wonderd if anybody had any particular areas of interest that they'd like to see covered in future tutorials? (obviously being able to fit into the realms of making a sci-fi/fantasy image at the end!)

    Cheers

    Adam

Well, now you've got your brand spanking new v10 upgrade with Bodypaint (you just like rubbing it in don't you? -lol) perhaps you could do something with it, because I know there are those who bought BP as a standalone app as well Smile

    Hi Adam,

Back many months ago you did a tutorial in Issue 2 of Imagin FX, the TUT was for Bryce 5.5. I was just wondering if it is possible for me to use the background you created in that scene for myself.

Please let me know as it is available on the free issue 2 disc we got with the mag.

    Hi Simon,

If I remember corrrectly, that would be the terrain city, with the ships in the foreground!?

You could use that scene in an image of your own if you wish, although it would be expected that you would credit that aspect of it to me of course. Equally, you would not be allowed to use it in anything of a commercial nature. Personally, I would have thought that, given the tutorials explanation of how to create these terrains, and their source texture maps in Photoshop, it would be better to simply create your own version from scratch!? :)

    Cheers

    Hi Adam,

It is the city scene, It is not for commercial use (I'm not that good at 3d stuff), What i want to do is use your scene with a couple of ships then i am going to create my own version as you have said with a ship i am making in Hexagon 2.1 which is a Jedi Redemption (i think it's called). If i can use your scene i can play around with the lighting etc ready for when mine is done, then i will post it here or within this forum.

This will take some time as i might try the new Lost World Competition over at www.3dm.com.

Re: Cinema coverage in the mag.

    Hello Adam,

I would like to see some cinema tutorials that focus on lighting scenes and render settings because there are lots of options in the render settings that are a complete mystery to me.

I should think you could cover those no matter what style of image you wanted to make.

I recently found that thread at cgtalk in the tutorials & tips section where per anders lists a few things you can do with your lights, materials and render settings to start beginners on their way to better renders and was amazed at the difference it made in a couple of test renders.

That's the kind of stuff I'm hoping for

Runtime - that's a good idea actually - I'll put it to Rob soon!

I'd really appreciate something on lighting and rendering. Beer

What about using the sketch tool? Yes

    Or covering InterPoser? Smile

Re: Cinema coverage in the mag.

We have used the Sketch & Toon shaders in a recent Anime tutorial, and interPoser Pro gets used every time a Poser figure is - it was used the most in the 'Sound of Thunder' tutorial I think.

An in depth 'lighting and rendering' tute is on the cards for either IFX or 3DWorld actually! ;)
