Who wants to be the subject of the next IFX Art Class?

Got a painting that's nearly right, but you're having trouble with the finishing touches?

Having trouble with your composition and are sure it only needs a bit of a tweak?

Struggling with your latest project and would relish a bit of professional advice?

Well how about submitting your work to us for one of the next Art Class features?

Just send us the piece you're having trouble with and we'll chose the artist we reckon would be best appointed to help you out, and then over the stage of a few email conversations they'll use the benefit of their experience to help you buff it up and make it look lovely! And what's more, well print the whole process in our nice glossy magazine. And how cool would that be!

So if you want to be considered for a spot on Art Class, pop your pic up on here (or PM it to us if you're shy) and we'll give you a shout if we reckon that it's something we could do the works on.

No don't hang about - get it up here quick smart!

Re: Who wants to be the subject of the next IFX Art Class?

well I'd love to finish this piece but I just can't seem to be able to bring the scenary to the next level, ya know, getting all the texture in there with out them looking slaped on or wierd. The buildings just don't look like they're in ruins, I don't know if I should keep my palet limited or not... I don't want it to look like if everything was painted orange but if everything has it's own color, it's going to look confusing and it'll have less impact with the blue character, so yeah.... how can I render a scene?

please pair me up with Feng Zhu because his gnomon dvd is the reason I got into this mess..? (yeah right... but hey, can't hurt to dream lol) oh, and I already have done an art class... I'm not sure if I can re-aply or if you'd rather give the change to someone else, I'd understand it if it was the case :)

How do I bring this one together?

It should be a dark and gloomy image, with a sense of some slight off anatomy to freak people out. What was originally a scythe I have changed to an incenseburner/burning torch-holder. I cannot seem to get it to look like rain is falling in the scene... help!

This one just needs that extra 'oomph'...something that makes you look a little longer at it and enjoy the details put into it.

I really enjoyed drawing the bird and think maybe i need to focus on that a bit more, but not sure.  It's a much larger picture so you lose a lot of the detail when its uploaded grrr

Re: Who wants to be the subject of the next IFX Art Class?

I've been working on this for bloody ever! It took a while, but I finally saw the glaring anatomy issues that it had, and after massive amounts of surgery and reconfiguring the armor, I think I've got it. I wouldn't mind getting the eye to be at least a little more expressive. As someone else pointed out to me the armor looks kind of pearlescent... not what I was going for. Maybe I should change the atmosphere. I had in mind a sunny day that has smoke in spots and the reflections of the people around him fighting. I wanted to get away from the dull non-reflective armor that most people paint and have highly reflective, but battered and dirty armor.

I think maybe tweaking the colors some might help but I don't know which direction to go. also thinking the edges in some spots may need to be softened to avoid the pasted on look. I have other versions of this as well, most of them if not all are in my gallery. Heeeelp.

Love is the only important thing... everything else is just details.

I might be being dim again, but I can't see your image anywhere. Might you be able to lead me to a link on your portfolio, or otherwise email or PM me it. I think I've broken the website again!
