Not sure if I should be sending this directly to the magazine staff or here, so I thought I'd just put it 'out there' and see what happens.

A few issues ago I read an article where someone received help with a painting from a professional. The pro would give feedback and advice to the amateur, who would then modify their work, based on this advice. The article had images of the piece at its various stages and really helped to illustrate (excuse the pun) the process that a professional might use when working on a painting - to take that painting from the average to the extraordinary.

Any chance IFX might bring this sort of article back? I really found it helpful. Did anyone else?

that's the art class Hal, i'm not sure if it's still going on at the minute, Claire usually puts up a post asking if anyone is interested, i'm sure she'll come and look at this thread and tell you though. It is really useful, i was extremely lucky enough to have an art class with Katarina Sokolova (yes i'm name dropping, i love it! ha ha) and it was a superb experience.

Do you have a specific image you want help with? Usually it works where you've got a problem with an image, i was having a problem creating a background. It's not a start from scratch kind of thing though.

oh gosh..i wasn't hinting that I would like an art class...nooooo...i just mean that it was a really useful article.

as for help, yeah I need help, but the medical profession has told me that a lack of talent is incurable...lol

yah, I did enjoy those articles. one crit on them though, I found sometimes I couldn't tell if the images shown were paintovers or the actual persons image as I was reading. The only way I knew was when I looked at it a minute and though 'wait a minute, this ain't the same style!' In some cases I found this bit a little confusing. It just needs a little more clarification is all.
