    Ice Village

Trying to get some good environmental/building work under my belt, plus I've never really handled ice before...paintingwise.

Any comments or crits on this would be welcomed. Cheers guys

Hard subject to paint, I don't envy you ;)
i think you need to make the buildings a bit lighter with more contrast and blue tint. the grey colour and lack of contrast is kinda making them look like stone

Thanks. I'd saved a bluer one also, but this is how I painted it first and wasn't sure if I should have second guessed myself. Was trying to think what people generally observe versus whats actually there.

     Here's the bluer/contrasted one.

Ooh, ice is a hard subject to paint...you seem to be doing well thoSmile

I think the second image is too blue/cyan...i prefer more white in it....the buildings look kinda cartoony...unless that's the style you were going for...try this tutorial, it's all about ice and might help you:

Cheers Emilia,  I really should've gone back to that tut when I was painting... no idea why I didn't. Thanks for hooking me up with the digital version.

Yeah, I've a tendency to go cartoony with everything. A habit I should really try to get out of sometimes.
