I posted a WIP of it over at the Sketch Challenge threat and now it's finished. I hope you like the Count ^^. Thanks for Martha's tutorial. It was an inspiration.

I'll try colors next time.

I've just readjusted these pieces: They looked fine before on my old monitor, but on my professional photographer's new modern monitor they looked muddy and washed out. I adjusted light and contrasts on his systen till they looked how they'd looked on mine, so now I want to know how they look to everyone else - and any other advice/crits/derision any of you might have!!

I just went star crazy in the finished section of the 2D art. Because I feel like in the finished artwork people are begging to get voted on. I challenge everyone to give a star voting with each comment/crit they make in the finished sections from now on. This is something that I feel is really lacking in this forum. Maybe people would try a little harder with their finished stuff if they knew people would be giving out the STARS OF DOOM. So why not challenge your community... I mean a lot of people don't know how to critique someone... so instead of just saying nothing at all, at least give your vote with stars. Its more exciting. Its more challenging... and your doing your part.

I also stumbled upon some amazing pieces in this thread that got no notice what so ever. While others who had stars....but might not have been that "well done" got more comments from people. So I think stars could make all the difference in this section.

What do you think?

Good point. When your reading a thread look for a rectangle with 5 stars in it at the top of the post. You can roll your pointer over it and click to rate the thread / image in the thread. It is worth noting that you can't rate the thread unless you are inside it so to speak. From outside the thread you can see the overall rating on the right of the thread title. If you click this you can see the ratings given so far, how many and by whom.

i was trying to go for a different style with this speedpaint. its heavily influenced by an artist on CA.org named humble henk. he has a very cool dark twisted style, and really cool greyscale pieces. any comments or crits for me, im still struggling with the values. any help is appreciated, thanks.

I did the piece below for a draw-off over at the Penciljack forums. The challenge was to redesign the Wicked Witch from the Wizard of Oz. The below images are not what I entered. I thought what I'd done was pretty good but after not looking at it for a few days and see what the other guys brought to the table I felt I could do better. So I went back and worked on it til I've gotten to the point where I have no idea what I can do to improve it. I know there are probably dozens but this is the best I can do at this stage of the game.

I hope everyone likes it. Comments and especially critiques are very much welcome. Thanks.

This is a character I made long time ago, just for fun, she is a kind of warrior princess belongs to a rare breed, has a bit of Egyptian influence style and I only worked it with photoshop CS2 and a wacom intuos 3 tablet.

Hello everybody!

My name is Arthur M.M. Parreira, and I am from Londrina, Brazil. I am graduating in Visual Arts this month, and as my Graduation Conclusion Work, I have made concept art about a famous Brazilian literature characters, called “O Sítio do Pica-Pau Amarelo”, from Monteiro Lobato. I have made my work using only open-source softwares (Gimp and Inkscape).
