Ages ago, 3dworld magazine had a major issue on 3d techniques. and there was a copy of cinema 4d 6 xl on the disc... Wow free 3d software. I found this to be amazing and a real chance to learn something about 3d modeling and animation.

Does anyone know if there's a newer free version of the software, I've been out of the loop recently regarding 3d software. I Know maxon are now selling version 10.x.x.

Hey folks,

I just wanted to find out what anybody has thought about the C4D tutorials in the mag so far (since I wrote them!)?

In the first, I tried to make sure that the basics of the interface, and the modal relationships were covered and explained, along with the basic use of the modeling tools, HyperNURBs etc. for those that may not have tried the app before.

I just wonderd if anybody had any particular areas of interest that they'd like to see covered in future tutorials? (obviously being able to fit into the realms of making a sci-fi/fantasy image at the end!)

Why Bother With 3D When ImagineFx Only Wants 2D

The reason for his is that Rob has mentioned in his messages that ImagineFX will stay as a mostly 2D magazine. So why bother having a section on the web site for 3D users when the team has little interest in it. Give your views and let them know you want some 3D

Wanna start in C4D and have a question

I want to start using C4D, mainly to render poser models initially. That way I figure I can learn about proper lighting etc.

Anyway, money is a little tight at present but I came across Maxon Cinema 4D CE+ version 6 at Amazon. I'm always suspicious of these offers, not knowing what functions have been disabled. As I know nothing about C4D, I'm seeking advice.

Is it worth buying as a 'starter kit' or would it be best to save the pennies until I can afford C4D 10?

Just thought I'd stretch my legs here :)

Well, at least here you've understood that there are more 3D apps around than Poser :P

As a C4D user, I just thought I'd be the first across this threshold and generally make myself at home, so expect half-eaten takeaways lying around and a "strange smell" begin to linger! lol

I got mine the other day, and haven't had time to really try out the new features yet, because of needing to finish a job in 9.6, but I have customised the new interface, to make it more readable! - what are yor thoughts on this new version?
