Had a hell of a time with the choices because so many entries were above par.

In my mind--Smolin and Midscrawl are a dead tie. I really like the strong fairy-tale narrative style of Smolin's piece, but I also love the clear illustrative style of Midscrawl's work. Both had very cool elements to tie into the theme (Smolin with the giant eyeball telescope and Midscrawl with the telescope device that plugs into the Farseer's eye). It came down to a stylistic preference on my part and nothing more (both were excellently rendered and I wish I could have given them both a "1").

3. Catzombie: I really liked the illustration style used on this one and the relatively muted color palette used was very effective (great work).

Man other strong showings as well (pupuchaku's was one of the best of the "tribal" style themes). Great job all.

1st. Pupuchaku. Yours wasn't the first that caught my eye, and as a whole it was almost unexciting, but the more I looked at your farseer the more I was drawn into it. The subtle little things kept catching my eye, such as the lighting, the detail of the feathers, and the smirk that I almost missed. The ghostly wolf pack and the positioning of the arms just adds more interest for the eye to follow.

2nd. HansNomad. Captivating colour and shadow, interesting textures, but your military leaders pose doesn't feel natural enough for my liking, and i find myself far more interested in what's happening in the background.

3rd. Smolin. Brilliant imagination with the character design, and your technique seems somewhat flawless. But it wan't captivating enough for me to push you higher. I thought it was cool, and then never gave it a second thought. It's possible that in my head, even though your piece was quite unique, it also felt too familiar.

I have to add a few notes:

I really like catzombies delicate top half of the image, I even like the loose bottom half of the picture, but the dragon seems a little too loose in places, as if its form was in dispute.

Really like adventuregoats concept and technique too, but the image just seems to cry out for the colours to be stronger, and the background seems lifeless. The problem is there's an attempt at the background, but the seems to be a lack of connection with what's happening in the foreground.

And joyjeee, yours was probably one of the most interesting worlds, where I wanted to know more, but then it was quite a mysterious scene. The texture and the glow of the image made me take notice, but for some reason it just kept slipping out of my minds grasp. Something's not quite right, but I haven't decided what, which problem means it's a few little things that dn't quite glue the image as a whole.

1- Midscrawl (Great cinematic composition and superb storytelling. That old guys face is perfect, and the city is amazing. The eye-slot concept is awesome and unsettling (click). A little thing with an easy fix, is that tangent BG line with the back of the eyepiece.)

2- Smolin ( A really well crafted, creative scene. I love the strong silhouettes, well balanced color, amazing lighting and solid construction. I can hear that little guys voice mumbling as he rolls his fingers and peers into the vast yonder..."Mmrrmb...where? Where is that medallion of the Great Seer hidden? Mrrmmble)

3- Gnuchi ( Simply gorgeous! Wonderful color and design. I absolutely love the depth you achieved in the feathers on the head, between the lighting and the cords passing through.)

2 Catzombie. the monochrome look really propels this and lets your design work come through

GhostImage, thanks for the advice. I have been using references for the body (photos and an anatomy book) but this is really my first try of a body so I'm sure I will improve. can't just photo myself though cause I'm a girl and that wouldn't look right for him! Maybe it's because the figure took quite a while to complete and I did it in bits that something has gone awry. I'll definitely try something like this again though.

This one was hard to choose, there were so many I wanted to recognise, but I can't vote for them all. Anyway here are my votes.

1 Claude Crow - I really like the human/machine mixture here, quite unnerving to be honest!

2 HansNomad - the colours in this piece are jus beautiful

3 Smolin - Gotta say this made me laugh from your first WIP, I really like your interpretation of the topic.
