The winner then has until Midnight the following night to post a new challenge theme or one will be set by a moderator to keep things moving along.

November 2009 Challenge - 'Out of the Mist' - FINAL ENTRIES!

I wanted to pick a theme that was open to a lot of different interpretation. I am looking forward to seeing what you all can come up with.

Finally, please keep posted artwork to a sensible size, preferably below 500k and around 1100 pixels or less. This is especially important in the WIP thread as we have to check these when setting up voting, and there are also members on slower internet connections that should be considered. Thanks.

This is the Finals thread for Rebel's Challenge #46 - Irresistible Hunger

This challenge runs from Saturday 24rd of October, up until (midnight) of Friday 6th of November. (I think)

Due to some people operating slower computers or connections it has been requested that posted images be no more than 200KB.

Entry must have been made during the Bi-Weekly timeline, NO PREVIOUS ARTWORK IS ALLOWED! This includes paintovers and copies of work by other artists. Warning: The Paintover Police operate in this area :) Final images should be posted here: One entry per person. Voting will then commence. The winner gets much kudos and the chance to name the 45st Rebels Bi-Weekly Challenge.

From this point, anybody wishing to have their entry included in voting MUST include at least 2 WIP stages in the WIP thread. In order to make it easier to find these WIPs when setting up voting, entrants MUST also include 2 "clickable" links direct to their own WIP stages in the relevant WIP thread. Entrants can post far more than 2 WIP stages if they like in the WIP thread, as long as 2 seperate links are included with the image posted in the Final Entry thread. Both links must show different stages of the pictures development and neither WIP image can be the finished entry (i.e. you can't just post a couple of quick early pencil sketches for WIP and skip to the the finished pic). The timing of these posts is not important as long as they are within the current WIP/challenge period. Any entry not including 2 valid links (as described above) will be disqualified and not be included in the voting list. It will be the responsibility of the entrant to ensure the links are there and that they link to the correct artwork. Even If you have posted artwork in the WIP thread, you will still be disqualified from entry if you do not supply the links to those images. Voting rules for anyone who doesn't know yet: You can vote for up to 3 people. Your first choice gets 3 points, your second choice gets 2 points, and your third choice gets one point .

So break out the cauldron and and wear something black. (basic black is always nice, don't you think) . A little eye of newt and a pinch of this and a bit of that and cast a spell, and maybe you will win the October contest. Most of all have fun and let your Imagination fly.

Fightclub Halloween - VENGEANCE OF THE FALLEN Finals

"The Fightclub is quiet tonight. The previous round has finished and all the contestants are taking a well earned rest. A blood red moon hangs in the sky above the arena spires, a chill wind howling between them.

Up on the hill, in the cemetery affectionately dubbed 'Loserville', Stan and 'the Sarge' have just finished burying the latest victim of the arenas brutal fights.

Dark clouds start to sweep overhead, and a storm starts to pick up. The two men try to hurry off to their truck as soon as they are done, just as a rumble of thunder rattles over the landscape.

There's something almost supernatural about this storm, the clouds have an eerie green glow, sparking as the lightning starts up. A heavy acid rain starts to fall and flood over the cemetery, seeping down deep into the ground.

Instantly the forks of lightning start to hit the ground, more and more, striking the headstones of the fallen. Stan and Sarge don't make it to their truck in time and the onslaught of lightning catches them, ending up lifeless, face down in the green mud.

And as suddenly as it starts, it stops. The storm passes over, and there is silence, leaving the ground with a throbbing green glow.

Then a quiet moan is heard, growing louder and louder. From one of the graves, a hand shoots upward from the dirt, followed by the decaying body of one of the Fightclub fallen. Others rise around him.

Soon a squad of undead zombies are moving fast down the hill towards the Fightclub Arena set on vengeance against their living opponents who sent them to this hell..."

THE CHALLENGE
Pick one of your own characters, it must be one who has been defeated in Fightclub in the past, and redesign them as a zombie. Post a pic of your redesign here in the WIP thread first. You're final will then be an image of your zombie character attacking, fighting, biting or beating, or even being beat by the opponent who put them in Loserville the first time round.

RULES
Deadline for final images and 2 WIP links is midnight Saturday 31st October UK TIME, at which point voting will be open for a week until midnight Saturday 7th November. Final images and WIP links must be posted before the deadline. Failure to comply may result in automatic disqualification.

Voting will use the 3 votes per person system, 1st place vote gets 3 points, 2nd gets 2, 3rd gets 1. If the votes are tied, the challenger who received the drawn number of votes first will win. If we finish with only 2 or 3 final images then it will be 1 person, 1 vote.

Votes are cast by all and any members of the IFX forums and are made at the caster’s discretion – they may vote based purely on the final image or they can vote on who entertained most during the round, or they can vote against who they don't want to win, it's dog eat dog in the Fightclub!

The challenger with the most votes, wins. If a challenger fails to post 1 final image and 2 WIP links before the deadline, they will automatically lose. If a challenger fails to comply with the rules or is considered to be operating outside of the spirit of this challenge then disqualifications can occur.

Battle of the Sexes Finals - The Creature Within

Okay, this is the official Final Piece thread. We've got a Rules & SetUp thread going here: http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/thread/237339.aspx if you want to have input as to how this challenge is being run or just banter back and forth about the challenge. The participant list will be updated when new people join us. Because of the volatile nature of the Battle of the Sexes, there is a new way of judging pieces and a new rule. The new judging process is a form of critique as well as a voting system. We as artists can’t know what to fix if we don’t know what’s broken.

RULES

· This thread is reserved for the Final Pieces and Voting Process. WIPs can be posted here:

· All Final Pieces must be posted in the Finals thread by midnight GMT time October 11, 2009. There is a 5 minute grace period for people to finish posting their image.

· **NEW** Any outwardly threatening, nasty, or insulting posts will be deleted and the artist's piece will not be included in the voting process. Play nice boys and girls. If a post is suspected to be offensive, it will be evaluated by at least 3 people, 1 of which being a moderator.

VOTING

· Voting will begin at Midnight GMT time October 11, 2009, and end at midnight GMT time October 18, 2009. This contest has a long deadline to accommodate other IFX challenges and contests.

· Voting is open to anyone on the forums. Please be aware that if you choose to participate in the voting process, we ask that you evaluate ALL final pieces, not just a few. The winner of this challenge will be the men OR the women, not an individual piece so its important to evaluate all the pieces.

· Each piece will be evaluated on a scale from 1-5 in the areas of Originality, Technique, and Overall Impression (Does it adher to the theme of the challenge? Does it tell a story? Does it work as a stand alone portfolio piece?) Each final piece is worth anywhere from 3 – 15 points. After the voting is completed all the points for the pieces completed by female artists will be totaled and vice versa for the men. Whichever group has the most points wins.

· Example: Say you’ve got a ho hum piece with great brushwork but its a little busy to tell the story properly and its a theme and style seen several times before.

Deadline notice for UK entrants

Anyone in the UK will have noticed that we recently changed from GMT to BST. In the past challenges have followed whatever the current UK time was. Because this has caused some confusion for people in the past the challenges will remain on GMT regardless of what is in use in the UK.

So, anybody entering from UK should have until 1am (BST) to get their entries in (unless I've confused myself which is entirely possible - must go and change that last clock too). Everyone else can carry on as normal... move along please, nothing to see here.

*Note from the Mods*

It has been brought to our attention by members of the forums that there may or may not be an issue with vote tampering and cheating within the challenges. Be assured that multiple puppeteers are being watched, as well as their marionettes. Cheating in the challenges is highly frowned upon by everyone and creating multiple false accounts is a breach of the terms and conditions of the ImagineFX site. Any accounts believed to be false will have their votes silently vetoed when tallying is done at the end of the challenge and at the mods discretion. Those thought to be cheating will also be given a private warning and the accounts thought to be false will be forwarded on to the IFX management for further investigation. Cheating will not be tolerated. Please be assured that we have checked previous challenges and re-tallied the scores and the the outcomes of each challenge so far has been fair and that the instances in those challenges thought to be tampering did not change the outcome. These challenges are meant to be fun and fair. Please keep them that way.

Fightclub Round 23: VARRICK vs TAKEZO

Round 23 sees newcomer ArtRobot's TAKEZO SAMURA, a cross between Clint Eastwood and Jet Li, challenge two rounds winner, the loincloth clad, Darkwrath's Varrick.

Both contestants must post one final image here and minimum of two over in the WIP thread. The deadline for final images is two weeks from now, Wednesday midnight-ish BST on 7th October. Challenge Rule Update!

Hi guys, after a discussion with fabledgoat we are introducing a new rule which will be tried out to see how it goes. The following notice has been posted in the other current WIP threads to give everyone sufficient notice.

Even If you have posted artwork in the WIP thread, you will still be disqualified from entry if you do not supply the links to those images.

Any questions about this should be asked in this thread to make it easier for everyone to find. This post will be updated with any clarifications.

The answer to one question already is that the links must be to the actual post where your WIP image is located. This means you are required to post in the relevant WIP thread for each challenge. I've attached a quick guide to help (click the pic to make it bigger if necessary)...

example: the URL of this post is http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/permalink/107660/107660/ShowThread.aspx#107660 and I would need to include another post link like that to another WIP.

"Fractured Fairy Tale"

This weeks challenge to be interpreted as you wish!

Not just a fairy tale but a fractured one. Add your own spin to a classic. Maybe Hansel and Gretel eat the witch! Or perhaps the Beast is actually better looking than Beauty! Maybe the Billy goats Gruff beat the snot out of the troll under the bridge! Use your imagination and run with it.

Now for the rules:

Deadline for entry is Midnight GMT on Thursday October 8th (note for UK entrants: we are currently on BST, 1am BST = midnight GMT i.e. an hour later). There is a 5 minute grace period for getting your entries posted properly, after which a moderator will post a list of valid entrants and voting begins. Voting will then close at midnight GMT on Saturday 9th October, when a moderator will total up the votes and announce a winner. The winner then has until Midnight the following night to post a new challenge theme or one will be set by a moderator to keep things moving along.

Well, I tried to get hold of Oakseed, but unfortunately time is up and we need to get moving. So here's the new challenge. The theme for this month is...

The City

Deadline for entry is midnight (GMT) on Wednesday 30th September (note for UK entrants: we are currently on BST, 1am BST = midnight GMT i.e. an hour later). There is a 5 minute grace period for getting your entries posted properly, after which a moderator will post a list of valid entrants and voting begins. Voting will then close at midnight (GMT) on Thursday 8th September, when a moderator will total up the votes and announce a winner. Toward the end of the challenge a mod will pick someone at random from the participants to set a new challenge for next month (so keep an eye out).

Brief rules: It is compulsory to submit a minimum of 2 different WIP stages in the WIP thread in addition to your entry. Links to your WIPs must be included for you to be eligible for inclusion. Artwork must also be created within the time period of the challenge, any previously created works will be disqualified. Moderators will discount any votes deemed suspicious and adjust the result accordingly.

Finally, please keep posted artwork to a sensible size, preferably below 500k and around 1100 pixels or less. Round 22 sees veteran Fightclubber Philby's Leo, quiet and introverted, but with plenty of tricks up his sleeve, challenge last round winner, the Big Red One, Darkwrath's Varrick.

IFX FIGHTCLUB Round 20 - Nemo Vs. Audi - voting closed!

From above we have sjmarshy's Nemo - an Angel cast down from Heaven, but who never quite made it to Hell.
