After all the encoragement I have recived here I thought I'd create my own tutorial section. This is basic stuff that I have found out or been told.

First area I will descuss is light. This is most likely the area that I have been going wrong in. Firstly I shall tackle simple shapes with black and white images.

" />

From my reasearch I have learn't that in my mind light falls into 4 areas

1. The intence light. You get this from the first area the light hits.

2. Transition shade. This is the area where the light fades and shade begins.

3. True shade. the area of the shape where the least amount of light hits.

4. Reflectional light. you get this from light bouncing off any serface behind the object.

Feel free to correct my studies as you feel fit if I am mistaken.

Home work for the forumites.

Draw some basic 3d shapes like above.

draw the 4 areas of light

Discuss how this may be applied to real life drawing

Grab a bottle of bleach (or something simpleish) and draw basic the shape with the 4 areas of light.

Further reading.
http://www.anticz.com/drawing1.htm

Felt tip markers

Is there a way to get fainter marks using felt tips?
electric pencil shapeners?

Well I was just wondering if it is worth getting an electric pencil sharpener? when I use my ordinary sharpener the lead breaks off in the pencil.
