Because he does pin-up toons and he inspired me to do the same. I love his style of work, it's not too cartoony nor realistic. He paints using a variety of colors, especial in the shadows- doesn't use blacks, use more blues or purples which goes hand in hand when using flesh tones or complements with warm colors.

Pekar site includes a great body of work of different genres inspired from familiar pop-culture characters, too sexualizing mythical women, and other diverse types of women. All the classic arch-types of you would expect from pin-ups. You can check out some of Joe's earlier works to developing one of his pin-up character's in 3D. You can see his work from sketchbooks, earlier works in oil paint, to now digital painting using Painter.

Get a glimpse of his mini-tutorial, giving the viewer or inspired artist to create your own pin-ups. He has a blog set-up to let his fans know what he's working on. If you really like his work a couple of his art books are for sale on his his site.

Check him out at http://www.joepekar.com/

His pin-ups are soo cool and amazing!

My uncle Thomas Blackshear

MARTIN BLAND!

well my art hero who get me into digi art is martin bland. He's got all kinds of awards for his paintingsand creativity. Presently he does the covers for the comicbook The Phantom, has worked with marvel and DC here and there. He does traditional work Pencils, Paint on canvas and illustration board but should not be overlooked because he doesn't do the computer graphics. The way this guy paints buy hand(actualy mixing paints on a palette and applying it to his brush is an amazing thing to see). His work equally and beyond can match any computer artist. Don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself. IFX needs to interview and feature this guys work if they haven't. I feel he doesn't get mentioned enough in the industry. I need feedback from people. If you agree with me mention it to the IFX team. Thanks!

http://www.douglasklauba.com/

Yet another youtube vid to make you sick

This guy is insane. Well I have been commenting on various galleries and I figured I would place some of the ones that I feel deserve special mention. I will always ask permission before posting on here so if I go afew days without posting it will more than likely be because I am waiting for permission.

Without further adue I would like to mention this guy

Lauren Saint-Onge

one picture in particular the link is below

http://community.imaginefx.com/fxpose/lafayettecores_portfolio/Fisher.aspx

More to come soon!

For inspiration.

Well I'm new here, and I'm not entirely based in digital sci-fi/fantasy art though I wish I could be. I'm a Graphic Design student at University in the UK, and am only just learning to paint digitally, I often use digital/traditional sketches instead, as nothing is required in graphic design like a digital painting, though if I could learn it would certainly be useful.

Anyway, onto the actual point, for inspiration I tend to sit and look through various books on my favorite artists, as the internet often has so much information it becomes difficult to find good sites. These artists specifically are Raymond Pettibon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Pettibon), Alex Pardee (www.eyesuckink.com), M.C. Escher, Geiger, and pretty much anyone who catches my eye. I've been buying imagineFX for nearly a year now, and this also acts as fantastic inspiration, it's wonderful to just sit and read through.

cheers,

sam

him!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrdRrAjpcDM&mode=related&search=

I feel skill-less right now...and increadibly old lol
