On the not grumpy side of things. If I knew someone was a young teenager I'd be more likely just to encourage them rather than crit their work. I guess that makes an assumption about their skill level.
Maybe encouraging or giving crits should be based on skill level rather than age?
it may help me understand and accept a very young person who, for example, seems to ignore lots of good advise.
Did you have any particular individual in mind when you typed that?
I did... too obvious? I occasionally end up in their thread by accident and notice they are still wasting peoples time.
I must be getting grumpier with age. Maybe I'm on my man period this week.
I take it this is a bait thread directed at me but what the hell, I'll live with it, I get more than enough made directed at me on other forums to begin with, I'm 22 but I don't
think you've tried reading your posts over especially from a newbie
perspective, if you really feel like I'm wasting you're time then why
don't you bugger off? No, sorry I'm not being rude, just pointing out the obvious and intelligent thing to do if you really find someone that unbearable.
Maybe encouraging or giving crits should be based on skill level rather than age?
That's how it ALWAYS should be done, it's like car insurance companies that make the assumption all young people are bad drivers and then actually price them on that, how exactly do you think it's fair to discriminate against people purely based on that? If you're going to blatantly rant about what a crappy artist I am at least have the balls to do it directly and based on factual evidence rather than just superficial stereotypes.
I only had you in mind when I made the comment about ignoring lots of good advise. Something I've mentioned in your thread. I've also made helpful suggestions in your thread.
I agree following this discussion that the way forward is to give advise / encouragement based on skill level rather than age. I made the conclusion in my previous post.
You've had advise and encouragement in abundance. I'm not ranting about you being a crappy artist. I wouldn't even say that you were. I never placed a stereotype on you. My opinion is formed through watching your progress or lack thereof. This is factual evidence. Listen to all the good advise and you will improve.
P.s. Young people and red cars are more likely to be in an accident.
The problem is that even though I'm reading the comments and understanding what people have said It's like watching an economics debate, you have several different theories, each one is convinced they are absolute, yet none of them are explaining things in a way normal people can understand and they conflict with each other. The lack of progress is pissing me off as well as I don't understand why it's happening so it's not as if it's from lack of effort or anything.
Also, your argument is invalid in regards to state sponsored car insurance, because as things are you may as well make it illegal for young people to get driving licenses at all :P

The vast majority of comments related to your work have all been saying virtually the same things. Draw more often and regularly, look at what you are drawing and understand it, start loose and gradually refine instead of trying to create the perfect line immediately, learn to draw the basic forms correctly (cubes, cylinders, spheres, etc). This has been repeated time and time again by many people for a very long time.

I'm 43. I like the idea of knowing peoples' ages, so I can talk down to anyone younger than me. Which is nearly everyone. Nick Avallone AngryFungus Art Blog | Sketchbook
And contrary to the ma'am, reference, I am all dude, lol
PS, And very sensitive, every time I get a critique, I cry all nite, then pull up my panties and get to work! (just kidding!) 8)
Well, not me If we're basing this purely on age, since I'm 46. ... But... since I was the one who called ya ma'am, guess I would expect you to push a little! :D Guess it was your 'sweet' name that threw me! :P
