    Age of forum members.

As a community trying to help each other I think it would be useful to know the age of members.

    What do you think?

I think those aged under 40 will think it's a great idea.

Though I agree it would be nice to know someones age beforehand, if this information alone would say change one's etiquette when posting, then I would suggest the poster err on the side of caution to begin with. And can also see where some may not want to give this information out at all. ... Hell, I think a lot of posters would benefit more just knowing the sex of a person, since they seem to get this wrong quite often. (I can usually tell after just reading some of the post by them, but this is not fool-proof. :)

I guess that's sort of what I was thinking Digital Dave. It wouldn't change my etiquette when posting initially. However it may help me understand and accept a very young person who, for example, seems to ignore lots of good advise.

But also I think people would be more careful of giving harsh critiques to young people who largley havent developed the ability to handle critisism effectivley.

I used to be mistaken for a girl... on the forum! Hopefully my current avatar sorts that.

P.s. I'm 34 and have developed somewhat thick skin.

Did you have any particular individual in mind when you typed that?

Harle - The Al Reid art link might have something to do with it, too Wink

Regarding certain seemingly young individuals or erm, in singular, they've not listened to good advice for so many years now that even if they were very young initially, they wouldn't be anymore...

Also, I'm under 40 and I'm not sure it's a great idea Stick out tongue I agree with Dave that it shouldn't really affect our behaviour much, but I guess I also agree that sometimes it would be good to know if someone IS very young. Although in my experience younger forumites do tend to mention their age in their intro posts. (Or maybe I just expect those who don't to be older... Tongue Tied) I do find myself wanting to know and not wanting to ask, sometimes, but for the most part I feel it should be completely irrelevant...

    Re: Age of forum members.

well i agree with those comments actually, in a way i'd rather not know cos i would definitely change how i post if i found out the person was very young (not in the content of the post but the way i phrased it). So i probably wouldn't want it known i guess.

i'm at the very very dark side of 40 - in years, in mind i'm much less than that :D

I agree, this is often the case. Also, I've been on many forums over the years, as I'm sure most of you have too, and many of them have a voluntary date of birth entry in the profile that most pass over. Might be an indication of what people feel?

I think that you may be having a physical reaction to the chemicals in the face paints. I recommend seeing a doctor as soon as possible.

I did... too obvious? I occasionally end up in their thread by accident and notice they are still wasting peoples time.

I must be getting grumpier with age. Maybe I'm on my man period this week. Tongue Tied
