Tarot Cards Bi-Weekly Challenge #5 - The Moon - FINAL

For those of you who don't know about this, we are going to have a bi-weekly challenge to depict a tarot card from the Major Arcana. This will last approximately a year. At the end of the year we will have the full Major Arcana. Two wips and a final are required for entry.

The only real stipulation is that The final image must be in the form of a card, with the card name and number, not just a painting
I will give you a brief meaning, but it's probably a good idea to do your own research.

    card #5

     The Moon (La Lune)
The ruler of the Flux & Reflux; The Child of the Sons of the Mighty

    Card Number: 18
    Key Number: 29
    Rulership: Pisces
    Hebrew Letter: Qoph
Translation: The Back of the Head
    Numerical Value: 12

     Divinatory meaning

Upright - Imagination. Dreams and psychic impressions.  Sometimes psychic work.  Illusions.  Inability to see things clearly sometimes resulting in personal depression.  Sometimes signifies fiction writing or acting, particularly work in the entertainment industry.  Losing control of one's daily life.  The unconscious mind.

This challenge ends Friday 2nd March - we will then vote for the winning card, and then on to the next one!

Really not feeling well, my head feels like it's going to explode. But I'm happy with how far I've got with this, so I'm posting it and then I'm going off to hide in the dark.

Sorry ran out of time to figure out how to link the WIP's.

I better explain the idea too.

The puppet is a representation of the viewer, the strings are a representation of unseen forces influencing our lives.

We're out in the open night apprehensive and fearful, the moon is bright and illuminating, that which we fear is within us.

The visual pun is - a reflection upon our animal natures.

Both entries are impressive and well finished cards, now for my vote

    a_curious_twitch gets it.

I really liked your idea, animal above the collar civilized beneath it, a juxtaposition. If anything the idea could have been pushed a bit by giving the wolf head some animal expression such as snarling or howling bringing home the conflict between our animal and civilized natures but as it stands it's pretty good.

    heimdayel.

Technically very well finished but the idea is quite simple, I think you were aware of this and that's the problem. By trying to add stuff you metamorphosed The Moon into a sort of alien creature deity which doesn't have a particularly strong lunar feeling about it.

guess I'll cast my vote too, even if the "official" poll starting post hasn't been posted yet

I like how you guys both depicted the wolf as a reflection of the self, yet in two different and interesting ways with the moonlit watery reflection and the wolf in a suit character

Thanks. Sorry I didn't vote myself. I've been a little ill since just before I posted the card. But thanks again.
